Why don't people RTFT?!?

Or at least only OP's comments, or the last few comments before they post?
A few examples...
did OP ever come back?(not the sarcastic ones)
How does everyone know x?(x having been revealed pages ago)
Massive reveal during the course of the thread(normally due to astute questioning from pps)that shows OP is in no way unreasonable, followed by YABVVVVU type posts based only on the first post.
Have you tried x,y,z? The same suggestions that have already been mentioned by at least 10 posters or OP said she tried during the course of the thread.
Reverse threads.

What's RTFT? Rewind Thread Forward Thread? Grin

Read The Full or Fucking Thread.

Have you cancelled the cheque?

Beingabitsillyagain · 29/12/2017 00:47

Drives me mad! Although I was guilty of one of those earlier because I'd not refreshed the page to see the update

Normally I ALWAYS RTFT. How can you contribute sensibly otherwise?!

RebelRogue · 29/12/2017 00:48

@ReadyForGoodNews that sounds like a good feature for the site.GrinGrin

Now I need this thread to get a but longer so I can disclose essential detail to catch people out.

OP posts:
Lweji · 29/12/2017 00:53

Read the full thread

It's definitely not "full".

Full is for the newbies.

Card carrying MNetters know it's "fucking".

Eatingwormswithwine · 29/12/2017 00:53

Because some threads are mahooosive

Graphista · 29/12/2017 00:54

Yanbu very annoying. I always at least read op's posts because they usually reference the responses.

SOME posters are now posting without having even read the full op - why???

ReadyForGoodNews · 29/12/2017 00:57

Ah, Read the fucking Full Thread makes a lot more sense, thanks Grin

BastardGoDarkly · 29/12/2017 00:57

Because they absolutely can't wait, to shout their advice, even though thread is 9 pages, and generally speaking most advice will have been covered.

Even on a very long thread, you must read at least the ops posts, to know wtf is going on.

RebelRogue · 29/12/2017 01:08

@Lweji I knew it was fucking, where do I get my card from?

OP posts:
Counterpane · 29/12/2017 01:30

"Because they absolutely can't wait, to shout their -advice- opinion..."

It really gave me the rage on a thread earlier today, probably the same one that prompted the question posed on this one.

Counterpane · 29/12/2017 01:31

^strike through fail.

Weezol · 29/12/2017 01:34

Glad it's not just me sitting here shouting at pigeons people that haven't read the fucking thread. I no longer feel like an intolerant pedant Hmm

Haribeau · 29/12/2017 01:35

What does RTFT mean 😂😂😂

araiwa · 29/12/2017 01:37

haven't read the thread

but as i am so important and smart then i will give you my opinion which is obviously great and original and couldnt possibly have been suggested by any previous posters.

be grateful i even bothered

Dlpdep · 29/12/2017 01:37

Honestly, it’s because there are normally pages and pages of pure Mumsnet drivel, in jokes, posters having conversations between themselves etc with probably one proper update from the OP in 7 pages. I haven’t got time to be reading 25 pages of pure shite. I’ll read the first page and the last page. Often the story hasn’t moved on much since.

ReadyForGoodNews · 29/12/2017 01:38

Haribeau I almost replied missed the joke lol

RebelRogue · 29/12/2017 01:42

@Dlpdep normally by reading the last page you can tell if the thread has changed(sometime significantly).
Unless that last page is also full of people that haven't RTFT.Grin

OP posts:
Haribeau · 29/12/2017 01:43

Araiwa - oh full of wisdom - HRTH...?? Really

Thirdshepherdfromtheleft · 29/12/2017 01:43

I'm on MN on my phone and it does this weird thing where it shows what I think is the whole thread THEN when I post on it, the damn thing auto refreshes and I find I've missed four pages and feel really daft. If MN let you edit a post then that could be avoided.

RebelRogue · 29/12/2017 01:48

@Thirdshepherdfromtheleft try swiping up when you reach "the end" . Normally that refreshes the thread for me,and if there are any more posts they will show up. Also helps on long threads.

OP posts:
Thirdshepherdfromtheleft · 29/12/2017 02:03

Will try that! Thanks Grin

Motoko · 29/12/2017 02:10

But even with long threads, people should read the OP's posts. Usually by then, all the obvious questions have been answered, with the OP clarifying things and/or adding more detail or background.

If you can't even be bothered to do that, don't bother posting.

Another thing that annoys me is when people don't even read the first post, then ask a totally unnecessary question because the answer is in the OP, e.g OP says her DD is 8, poster asks "How old is your DD?".

Argh!
