Why don't people RTFT?!?

Or at least only OP's comments, or the last few comments before they post?
A few examples...
did OP ever come back?(not the sarcastic ones)
How does everyone know x?(x having been revealed pages ago)
Massive reveal during the course of the thread(normally due to astute questioning from pps)that shows OP is in no way unreasonable, followed by YABVVVVU type posts based only on the first post.
Have you tried x,y,z? The same suggestions that have already been mentioned by at least 10 posters or OP said she tried during the course of the thread.
Reverse threads.

RebelRogue · 29/12/2017 15:08

@gamerchick fair point, I've been caught out myself on that a few times. It still happens less often than people not reading the thread, at least in my experience.

OP posts:
gamerchick · 29/12/2017 15:13

Yes less often just more annoying Wink

I do see where you’re coming from though.

Lweji · 29/12/2017 15:17

When you have posted a lot or changed names a lot, you end up committing at least one of the sins mentioned in this thread. :)

I know I've occasionally missed a post by an OP or missed some information on the OP or other posts. Blush Although, compared to how much I post (too much), it's a very small percentage.

It's kind of funny, though, when the OP eventually says that they've said something from the begining and you read back the OP and they didn't. Grin
Or the title and the OP ask different questions or contradict each other.

RebelRogue · 29/12/2017 15:26

I remember a thread asking about slapped cheek and a picture. In my defence, there were only 5 replies and only one mentioning the GP. So jumped in both feet saying how it doesn't look like a slap to me, no finger marks and why and suggesting it might be a rash instead.
Took about three more replies for the penny to drop.

OP posts:
NewPapaGuinea · 29/12/2017 15:29

I wish there was an option to show just the OPs posts so you can quickly see updates. I've resorted to using desktop mode, switch to 100 messages and searching OPs name. Pretty tedious process.

TaggySits · 29/12/2017 15:35

Has the OP been back yet to explain what RTFT is yet?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 29/12/2017 15:44

There have been a couple of horrific ones where the minor health niggle in the OP has since been diagnosed as something much more serious. People still pile in with you are making a fuss put some savlon on it and stop complaining posts.
At least read the OP’s posts.

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 29/12/2017 16:01

RebelRouge you mean slapped cheek virus I had that as I child on my thighs they where all red and blotchy.

RebelRogue · 29/12/2017 16:05

@Shootfirstaskquestionslater yup. Title was "Is this slapped cheek?" Or similar. And there I was throughly explaining why i believed no one slapped the child. GrinGrin

Iprefercoffeetotea · 29/12/2017 16:07

I read the full thread if it's not too long, but when they're 10+ pages long, I don't always. That said, if it's that long I've probably nothing useful to contribute anyway as it's probably already been said. I usually read the last page before I post though.

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 29/12/2017 16:08

RebelRouge hahaha pmsl I can see how that would confuse you if you've never heard of it before and think they are asking if their kid has been slapped.

Lweji · 29/12/2017 16:36

I usually read the last page before I post though.

The greatest example on the need to read the last page is the lipstick in the washing machine thread. You read the title, then read the last page and go WTAF happened here?

RebelRogue · 29/12/2017 16:43

@Lweji the lipstick thread deserves a full reading. Grin It is very erm.. enlightening.

OP posts:
TheNaze73 · 29/12/2017 16:48

Not had a chance to read the whole thread but, YABU. It’s an open Internet forum, not an attention to detail course Wink

Lweji · 29/12/2017 16:49

the lipstick thread deserves a full reading. grin It is very erm.. enlightening

I know. I've enlightened a couple of people there. Wink

Janetizzy30 · 29/12/2017 19:18

Hirples had to laugh at cancelled the cheque, that was the best post ever

AdultHumanFemale · 29/12/2017 19:38

I always make a point of RTFT if I am going to comment, but sometimes I wish there was a function to 'condense' a thread to show only the OP's posts, a development of the current highlighting, but it would save me all the scrolling.

Willow2017 · 29/12/2017 20:01

Its pretty easy to highlight all the ops posts so you can keep up with what they said and not necessarily read all the rest if you are in that much of a hurry.

It make my blood boil when people just make things up as they go along and pile onto op for something that wasnt mentioned at all. (Then get pissed when its pointed out they are ranting about something that didnt happen and flounce off)

Then there are the ones who make up a whole backstory to fit thier own post and will not be convinced otherwise that they are talking shit.

I particularly like the ones which start " i havent read the thread but...." and put thier tuppenceworth down usually so far of the mark its laughable or has been said 20 times already.

Its obvious that some dont read all the ops posts as they are only there to be as nasty as possible and crucify the op no matter the topic.

Just RTFT people makes everything so much easier.

EvilDoctorHogmanayDuck · 29/12/2017 20:20

Have you cancelled the cheque?

RebelRogue · 29/12/2017 20:37

@Willow2017 ahhh yes, the old...
OP: My 4 yo is afraid of dogs what should i do?
PP: what? You want to rehome your cat because you had a baby? You are an awful human being.

OP posts:
Motoko · 29/12/2017 21:08

Oh, those ones give me the rage. Angry

loobyloo1234 · 29/12/2017 21:33

Always find it mega annoying when someone says 'I don't have time to RTFT but have you tried ... ' ... and someone has already suggested it literally a page before Confused Don't know why those people bother

rainbowduck · 29/12/2017 21:38

Cancel the chèque!!!

RebelRogue · 29/12/2017 21:58

@rainbowduck the cheque has been mentioned already, RTFT will you? Grin

OP posts:
rainbowduck · 29/12/2017 22:03

@RebelRogue GrinGrin
I couldn't resist...
