who is right about sneezing?

I’ve just had a proper barney with DH about sneezing.

DH has a cold, but he doesn’t put his hand over his face when he sneezes so you can see all of the shower of gack flying out of his nose when he does. It’s always been like this. It drives me mental.

I say that you should cover your face when you sneeze so you don’t blow snot and germs everywhere.
He says that if he does that, he just gets a hand covered in snot.

I think I’m right, and that there’s no point in him saying not to come close as he doesn’t want me to catch his cold when he’s spraying it everywhere anyway.
He thinks he’s right, but says if he can get a tissue in time he’ll use use that.

Am I unreasonable to ask him to cover his face when he sneezes then wipe his sodding hand, rather than spray snot everywhere, or is he right that I’m just being precious?

YANBU. Who wants his germs or his snot all over them?! Gross.

We're lucky enough to have running water and soap in this country. He can wash his fucking hands. YANBU at all. Yuck.

Why can't he use a tissue? Tissue on hand, hand to face, sneeze, bin tissue, wash hand. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yuck i feel sick at the thought of it! If you can't get to a tissue in time, sneeze into your upper arm, or your hand and wash it.

It’s not the sneezing, it’s him not having the consideration to not spray everywhere with snot. As I said, if you don’t like snot on your hand, just think about where it’s all going if you don’t use your hand. Ugh.

We sneeze into our elbows to reduce the spread of germs.

Eugh dont most people have tissues on hand all the time with a cold. I often have some permanently stuffed up my nose if its erm leeking.
A hand full of snow can be easily washed away. Hes gross.

If he can't get to a tissue, and doesn't eat to get snot on his hand, he should sneeze into the crook of his elbow- also avoids him putting his germy snotty hands on everything he touches.

Of course he’s wrong. There has been a national educational advertising campaign about just this. If he can’t handle getting his hands wet to wash off the germs then get him to try sneezing into his elbow or the neck of his shirt at very least.

Yanbu. He should carry a packet of tissues with him and dispose of them after use. I wouldn't be hiding my disgust of his behavior if I saw him sneezing or coughing everywhere without covering his mouth. It's basic manners.

Give him a box of tissues, right next to him. Nobody wants a handful of snot. ( I sneezed in the pub on Monday, I have long hair, I needed to wash my hair before bed if you get my drift)
