Plane travel??!

I haven't been abroad since I was a child. Taking my children away for new year and in really confused about what you can and cannot take on the plane (We're travelling with hand luggage only)
First things first! Can I take my e-cig and liquids in my luggage. I'm definately going to need this to resist trmptation while in the smoking capital of the world! Eek!
What about bottles of drinks/snacks/sweets?
A handbag full of shit aswell as my cabin case.
Make up! What about my mascara and foundation? They're liquid!
I'm so confused.

Also any packing and general travelling advice would be helpful.

I think the bottles are less than 100ml. I don't think they're flammable.

E-cigs can't go in hand luggage, I had to chuck mine at security this year! Think it's fine in normal luggage though.

liquids, gels and pastes rules are on the airport website. Take too much and it will get confiscated. MN anti-science attitudes means everyone talks just about liquids, but that is not the full extent of the cabin baggage rules.

Ahh screwed. I'm not paying for hold luggage just to throw a cig in there. That's pretty devastating!

All liquids, paste have to be put into a clear plastic bag that the airport supplies. All these must be under 100ml unless medicines or baby milk/food. I have just flown the airport security were blaming people for the 1 hour + time it took to pass through security. No liquids or paste in your bag. It all must be placed in the little clear plastic bag, so make up, toiletries, smoking, drink, deodorant etc

You can buy food, drink, make up, toiletries in the shops after you pass through security

Don't need to get a bag from the airport. I always use a small resealable freezer bag from the supermarket

When I have travelled through Gatwick there is a limit of one plastic bag per person which the security staff have sometimes insisted must be able to be sealed at the top.

I often take bottles of a certain brand of liquid seasoning abroad for a friend and I hadn't realised the maker had changed the bottle size to 101ml. All four bottles binned...

E cigarettes and liquids are fine, but count in your liquids allowance. Take empty water bottle or buy drinks after security. Snacks are fine. Whether you're allowed a separate handbag as well as hand luggage suitcase depends on the airline, and worth checking their hand luggage weight allowances and child allowances too

Make up like mascara and foundation (If liquid foundation) will need to go in a clear bag for liquids and must not exceed 100ml each. You can take your ecig but your vape juice will need to go in your liquids bag. Double check with your airline that you can take a handbag alongside a cabin bag

Yep, so is liquid foundation/concealer, and liquid eyeliner.

One clear bag per person, and it has to be sealed. When we flew out of Manchester in the summer, they checked everyone's bags and if you couldn't fit it all in one, you had to bin things until the bag closed.

You can take your e-cig and liquid through, but the liquid must be included in the clear bag allowance. Remember things like bottles of water will be binned, and you can't take big bottles of anything like toiletries or creams/moisturisers through either.

Check that your cabin bag meets the dimensions for your particular airline - some allow bigger bags than others. You will also need to check with your airline whether you can take a handbag as well as your cabin bag - some are strict that it’s one bag/case only where others will also allow a handbag.

Also, it's not just bottles under 100ml. They also have to fit in one small plastic bag. Think sandwich bag sized zip bag, one per person. You can buy them at the airport usually (or they'll just give them to you), but you may want to buy in advance so you can get an idea of what actually fits. Yes, all make up pretty much even if it's not very liquidy (not powders). But medicines that you need on your person are exempt and you don't need to put them in the bag - inhalers for instance, even if they are liquid. Just keep them in your handbag wherever you do keep them. You can also spread liquids out amongst the group of you. I usually take more as I like to be prepared for everything, but my dd and dh don't usually have many, so I put any extra stuff of mine in their bags to get it all through.

Any large electronics (tablets, laptops, not phones though) will need to be taken out of the case and put in the tray for inspection when you go through security. Get them out in advance. It can hold up the whole line when someone is unpacking their bag at the last minute because they forgot.

I'll probably only need one bottle of e-liquid which is only 10ml. I need to check all my makeup but luckily I don't use alot and they're all pretty small items so a 20x20 bag should be plenty. Good idea re the empty water bottle and filling it once through to airside.
What about creams/moisturiser and medicines. Surely theres different rules for medical items as you're not supposed to decant medicines into other containers?

Ecigs are fine. Easyjet lets you take two spare batteries. And liquids under 100ml in cabin luggage. Empty clearos before the flight and don't try to stealth vape though. The pressure makes tanks flood 😒

Haha stealth vape! I wouldn't dare. Although would anyone really know if I had a cheeky vape in the airport toilet before boarding?

If you go to the pharmacy you can buy packs of contact lens cases. One side of that will easily hold enough foundation/face cream/etc for a week. Then you don’t have to take the whole bottle/jar.
