Well unless there's a back story and you're sick...YABU!

Allthebestnamesareused · 08/12/2017 10:47

No - do it. Its only going to get more hectic in the run up to Christmas. Make yourself some snacks and a drink and go back up.

DaphneCanDoBetterThanFred · 08/12/2017 10:48

Do it! Do it for me because I want to and I can't. Bonus points if you have a hot water bottle and a good book/podcasts and/or cat to snuggle.

Nousernameforme · 08/12/2017 10:49

You only have a few more days until they finish school for christmas. Stick some tunes on Crack on and get the house ready.

CannotEvenThink · 08/12/2017 10:50

sometimes you need to practice self care in order to be happier, healthier and more productive. Do it but get back up at lunch time, have lunch and do a couple of things on your to do list before pick up.

Cath2907 · 08/12/2017 10:51

Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do! I want to be in bed :)

CannotEvenThink · 08/12/2017 10:51

Incidentally I'm snuggled in a blanket with hot chocolate and on my third episode of buffy. But I will follow my own advice and do the laundry and tidy bedrooms before pick up.

Hammy12345 · 08/12/2017 10:52

I would if I could. Maybe get up a bit before so you can tackle a couple of jobs.

SlartyFarkBarstard · 08/12/2017 10:52

Do it, I would. Fuck the judgement of others.

PinkyBlunder · 08/12/2017 10:54

You’re never unreasonable to practice self care. Judgement from others about looking after ourselves is why so many people end up in such a mess. As long as you’re not doing it very day/every other day then it’s a non issue.

Enjoy!

Smarshian · 08/12/2017 10:57

Do it! I'm watching films with dd today. Day off nursery and work. Everything will wait.

haveacupoftea · 08/12/2017 10:59

YANBU. Life shouldn't just be a rush to get as many chores done as possible. Rest is important

Incrediblehulky · 08/12/2017 11:03

Do it! But make sure you enjoy it and don't do it with guilt or it won't be worth it! Go right now! Why would it be unreasonable? If it makes you feel any better, I'm eating a mince pie and drinking tea in bed. Go....Smile

LalaLeona · 08/12/2017 11:06

I personally feel depressed lying in bed during the day if I'm not ill you might feel worse when you get up and see all the stuff you've got to do. Maybe you should get your jobs out of the way first as they are not going to go anywhere?

hipposinacircle · 08/12/2017 11:07

YANBU. Enjoy! Smile

coddiwomple · 08/12/2017 11:09

YANBU

BUT how will you feel if you only get up for the school run and nothing has been done? If you can catch up with everything tonight and this weekend, go for it. If whatever you have to do will stress you out, you might as well do it now, and have a lazy evening snuggled up on the sofa guilt-free.

debbs77 · 08/12/2017 11:10

Definitely do! Happy Mum equals happy family !

I've started listening to myself and doing what I want to rather than over riding my own feelings. It's working well!

cjt110 · 08/12/2017 11:12

Do it.

shakingmyhead1 · 08/12/2017 11:14

NAPS RULE!!!!!

TheSockGoblin · 08/12/2017 11:16

Depends how often you do it. If it's every other day in the name of 'self-care' that's just a bs excuse. If it's once in a while when you could do with a recharge - crack on. Only you can know which one it is!

JaneEyre70 · 08/12/2017 11:17

My house is a tip this morning. And for one day I'm not bloody touching it. I'm sick of clearing up other people's mess. And am recharging my batteries for the xmas onslaught. Am on strike on the sofa after walking dog with MN and a lovely coffee. YANBU. Do it!!

Emlou07 · 08/12/2017 11:17

@CheapSausagesAndSpam

How is it even remotely unreasonable?

Go for it OP! Enjoy Wink

SandysMam · 08/12/2017 11:17

I am in bed mumsnetting while my baby naps. I have loads to do but it will all need doing again tomorrow!! Enjoy!!

FergalBurgal · 08/12/2017 11:20

I dream of doing this once DS starts school. Set an alarm though just in case you snooze Smile

Whoyagonna · 08/12/2017 11:21

Well, I've been ill a lot recently and literally slept solidly through the day, got up for a couple of hours, then slept the full night again, so I would say do it. If you can't stay awake, you can't. I've a shit load of shite to do today, will it get done? Anyone's guess!
