I do this a lot on the cold days go for it I say

user789653241 · 08/12/2017 11:25

I did the other day. I was really tired and bit under the weather. It made a huge difference, I was really refreshed and recharged. If I stayed up and carried on, I may have ended up ill for few days.

Chewbecca · 08/12/2017 11:37

DS had an inset day today & neither of us are out of our pajamas or bedrooms yet. We've had tea & have ipad/laptop.

ItsNachoCheese · 08/12/2017 11:37

I did this the other day when ds was in nursery, i had an hours sleep and it did me the world of good. Im tempted to do the same today as im coming down with a miagraine

CuddleWithTheCat · 08/12/2017 11:40

Why us mums always have to feel guilty for not doing all the work, for just resting a bit, for having a little time to ourselves?

1happyhippie · 08/12/2017 11:42

Just do it!
I have loads to do today, busy weekend planned so thought I should tackle the girls bedrooms today, I am at the stage where I have made so much more mess! You know where you pull everything out and have a proper sort through? I wish I'd just left it alone now.
I have come downstairs for some rubbish bags and have made a coffee and opened mumsnet! Will I get back upstairs to finish them before the school run?
I wish I had just gone back to bed now

NerrSnerr · 08/12/2017 11:42

Depends how often you do it. If it's every other day in the name of 'self-care' that's just a bs excuse

BS excuse? Excuse for what? An adult doing what they want? I spend half my last pregnancy in bed when the toddler was at nursery. It’s lovely being able to choose what you want to do when you’re a grown up.

dantdmistedious · 08/12/2017 11:43

I've just had four days annual leave to sort a load of christmas stuff out. I had a nap on every one of those days and it was bloody lovely. Go for it.

MirandaWest · 08/12/2017 11:45

Do it. The world won't end if you don't do chores today.

My DC don't break up from school until 22nd - still feels a long way away...

LazyLump · 08/12/2017 11:46

Well I had already done basic cleaning, beds, washing on and dinner thought about. It was just mopping floors and putting away laundry mountain that I cba to do and tomorrow it'll all need doing again so meh! Will lie again to DH that I spent an hour in the gym and swam 30 laps of pool.

Made a few phone calls and now in bed. Don't put heating on while DC out so house freezing. Cat is not snuggly, arrogant, ungrateful thing.

I am so bloody TATT. Boredom, hypothyroidism, very low iron levels and having weekly therapy for OCD so that's enough of an excuse I suppose!

WowserBowser · 08/12/2017 11:47

I definitely would!

teaortequila23 · 08/12/2017 11:50

I do this like 2days a week 😂
Take some food up so u don’t need to come back down

Kentnurse2015 · 08/12/2017 11:50

As long as it's not every day then totally acceptable! My one day with both children at nursery today. I have so much I could be doing, but I am laying on the sofa snuggled under a blanket reading magazines. Lovely!

10storeylovesong · 08/12/2017 11:50

I'm combi feeding my 10 week old and decided yesterday I was relying too much on formula as it was easier while rushing round trying to look after 4 year old and get chores completed. I text DH this morning to say I wasn't doing housework today and was just going to sit and snuggle and feed (very hungry baby!). He's just told me to enjoy it and he'll sort housework when he gets home.

Sometimes we all need to focus on ourselves and not rushing round after everyone else. I say do it!!

cherrycola2004 · 08/12/2017 11:54

Do what you want why do people have to ask strangers on the internet permission??

kaytee87 · 08/12/2017 11:57

Why do you need to lie to your husband?
If you have low iron levels of course you're tired and need a lie down x

SoapyChoc · 08/12/2017 12:03

Do it and enjoy. Make yourself a nice warm drink to take up and get all cosy.

DaphneCanDoBetterThanFred · 08/12/2017 12:09

Cherrycola Do you know where you are? Because that's the point of this kind of forum. Because it's nice to hear that other people do the same as you. Because it's nice to know that's it's ok to give yourself a break. If you don't agree, perhaps don't use this kind of forum, there's a love.

LazyLump · 08/12/2017 13:36

Thanks Daphne. My thoughts exactly.

Well had the rude interruption of having to collect DS2 from school after about 10 minutes of getting back into bed. So that didn't pan out!

Ours don't finish school until 22nd, nousername

kaytee87 · 08/12/2017 13:43

If you're cold you should have your heating on if you can afford it, doesn't matter if your kids are out. Or buy an oil heater and heat the room you're sitting in

blackheartsgirl · 08/12/2017 14:06

I've done it quite often the last few weeks. Sod it. The other half does it without feeling any guilt so why shouldn't i. As long as the kids are sorted and we all eat then who cares

sweetsomethings · 08/12/2017 14:10

We are the same Flake 2:30 on the 22nd

JonSnowsWife · 08/12/2017 14:12

Technically no. If you go back to bed you're less likely to notice the mess.

LalaLeona · 09/12/2017 11:22

A lot of mnetters seem to do this sort of thing
