Will I be struck down? have put up our Christmas trees (artificial) as we'll be out for the next two weekends and won't have time. My DM will be spinning in her grave. If it's any excuse at all, I have shut the curtains in the dining room which is on the front of our house so no one knows.
It's bad isn't it?

Trees plural?

Ha ha ha

Yes, very very bad.

munkynutts · 26/11/2017 14:11

Unreasonable on 2 counts IMO:

  1. having more than one
  2. artificial
ThePinkOcelot · 26/11/2017 14:14

It’s the 26 November! If busy the next 2 weekends, you could have put them up the week after!

ThePinkOcelot · 26/11/2017 14:14

Plus Munky- nothing wrong with artificial!!

afinetoothcomb · 26/11/2017 14:15

I've put mine up 😁🎄🎄🎄

afinetoothcomb · 26/11/2017 14:16

And it's artifical and I love it 😍🎄

CuppaSarah · 26/11/2017 14:18

I'd of put mine up, but dh says no!!! He's a miserable git.

whataconundrum · 26/11/2017 14:19

Mine went up last week!

SequinsOnEverything · 26/11/2017 14:20

No! I'm doing mine tonight because I feel ill and it will cheer me up. Lights in the window won't go up until next week though

Frouby · 26/11/2017 14:21

Mine went up today too.

And the decorations on the front.

I have no shame. And I am not even bothered.

We do go away on 13th December for a week to tenerife so am having an extra week of Christmas decorations to make up for the week we are away.

That's my excuse anyway.

Plus once the tree is up I start actually doing my Christmas shopping and have a week less this year to do it in.

DameDoom · 26/11/2017 14:26

Trees - to be fair there are only two. We don't do open plan here so have an old-fashioned dining room.
They are Balsam Hill so need to recoup the money I've shittered on trees and ornaments.
Won't switch on until the 1st. It's still too early, I know.

OP posts:
lazyarse123 · 26/11/2017 16:43

I don't do it this early. But if it makes life easier and you are happy why not?

FeelingAggrieved · 26/11/2017 16:46

It's not that early. Christmas music and markets etc have been on for weeks. A few days before December isn't worth worrying about.

youarenotkiddingme · 26/11/2017 16:56

I would have done it today - if I had one!
Usually donfirst weekend in December but ds has swimming meet all weekend.
So we’ll be doing buying tree and gifts the following weekend and decorating.
I’ve bought new ornaments for it though as plan to get bigger than we had before Grin

grannytomine · 26/11/2017 16:59

No, not too early. I did some present wrapping today so feeling Christmassy and virtuous. Where's my halo?

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 26/11/2017 17:00

I did mine last week and I have 3 Wink
I don't care how early it is - the fairy lights make me happy!

jaseyraex · 26/11/2017 17:01

We bought a new tree and decorations on the 10th of November (first Christmas in new house). Tree went up the same day Grin

heateallthebuns · 26/11/2017 17:06

I put mine up yesterday, and outdoor Christmas lights today, which are just white lights. Not wreath, I'm gonna hold out on that. We had to as we are away next weekend, weekend after, then it's my birthday, then we're away for two weeks over Christmas.

I'm a bit disappointed though, I just have a little artificial tree this year coz we're away. It looks scratty and shit. And I don't like my baubles this year even though they're the same as last year and I loved them then.

EmilyChambers79 · 26/11/2017 17:09

All ours go up next weekend along with the decorations inside and out. I've that much I like to appreciate it all for longer than the three days that's approved of on here!

It's not too early! If I don't do ours next weekend, our next free day is 23rd December and that's too late.

elQuintoConyo · 26/11/2017 17:11

Someone put up their outdoor lights last week: blue/red/yellow/green etc intermittent colours.

Then 6yo DS was being a nosey chese and stuck his curious eye up against their fence and announced they had multicoloured lights in their fountain Shock not a tree in sight.

Now i want a light-changing fountain for Christmas!

elQuintoConyo · 26/11/2017 17:15

But anyway... Not put our tree up yet, i'll do it next Saturday afternoon. Saturday morning DS has a story-games-and-crafts thingy about the Gingebread Man; Sunday morning is the British Christmas market (i'm in forrin), so i can stock up on Christmas pud, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mincemeat, giant tubes of Smarties; Sunday afternoon is Advent feast at our German friend's house - fucking amazing food! We cannot wait.

I have this afternoon put up our giant advent calendar and DS has done some Christmas crafts while we listen to some festive tunes. He made a lollipop stick snowman. Super cute.

Bluntness100 · 26/11/2017 17:17

Well if I’m going to be honest the next two weekends is also too early, so should have been the weekend after, which is when mines going up. It’s also balsam hill so that excuse doesn’t wash either, Grin

yorkshapudding · 26/11/2017 17:18

We put ours up today.

We have had a really shit few months so when DD asked if we could put the tree up today I just thought, why not? It's cheered us all up.

saveforthat · 26/11/2017 17:19

Artificial trees are horrible and it's still November so YABU

Whatsinanameanyway201 · 26/11/2017 17:19

YaNbu.. If you enjoy Christmas and it brings some joy into your life then blooming well carry on!
Artificial, real, November, December.. It doesn't matter. Ignore the haters.
Our tree went up on Friday and I absolutely LOVE it. Getting another tree for the kitchen tomorrow.
My favourite time of year so I'm going to milk it for all its worth

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
