Will I be struck down? have put up our Christmas trees (artificial) as we'll be out for the next two weekends and won't have time. My DM will be spinning in her grave. If it's any excuse at all, I have shut the curtains in the dining room which is on the front of our house so no one knows.
It's bad isn't it?

I put our tree up last week when DS was poorly. It cheered him up massively!

DD is super excited for Christmas so it's lovely that they can enjoy it for longer.

We have an artificial tree.. I'd be wary getting a real one because of our cat! He's a menace!

Plus.. I got ours in the Tesco sale after Christmas a couple of years ago.. for £3.75!!! That makes me love it even more!

We have tinsel around a few of our frames, a small musical tree ornament, a small led reindeer and a 40cm santa.
Slowly in the process of buying more decorations if I see something I like!

Next two weekends is only the 10th.
What's wrong with 17th?

IggyAce · 27/11/2017 07:49

My scheming DH and dd put ours up on Saturday night, so I got a surprise Sunday morning. However they didn't open up all the branches and the ornaments were poorly placed so I could stand it and stripped it and redecorated it properly before breakfast.

FoxyRoxy · 27/11/2017 07:53

We went on holiday last week so I put one up before we went and one went up on Saturday. The real one will go up 2nd week of December, no way would I be able to last until then without a tree Shock not decorated the rest of the house yet though. Yanbu op!

martellandginger · 27/11/2017 07:56

Artificial trees are better for the environment. No point using cloth nappies and buying wooden toys if you buying a 6 foot real tree every year!

AuntieStella · 27/11/2017 07:57

Before Advent Sunday or 1 Dec is, I think, a bit naff. And Advent Sunday is late this year, as it's next Sunday (can fall anywhere from 27 Nov to 3 Dec).

I don't put the tree up early because a) there's a family birthday in December and we want it to be Christmas-free and b) I'd be sick if the sight of it by Twelfth Night if it went up in November (and we don't have a January birthday to decouple from)

Oh, this is quite funny, watching a real tree v's Balsam Hill snob off.

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 27/11/2017 09:36

Totally off the point but are Balsam Hill trees worth it? They look fabulous on the site and I was going to treat myself but I was worried I'd be disappointed. I love my tree twinkling away in the corner (lights on steady, can't do the 'lights to set off a seizure' setting my mates have) and will be helping the kids decorate ours on Sunday and rearranging decorations when they've gone to bed!
