...where people knew what they were talking about or were open to learning.

OP posts:
CarbyDiem · 25/11/2017 15:05

There is one.

ImListening · 25/11/2017 15:07

There is - philosophy & religion in the Body & Soul section.

MissConductUS · 25/11/2017 15:07

I'd be willing to try.

Violletta · 25/11/2017 15:12

why dont you have a look in www.mumsnet.com/Talk/philosophy_religion_spirituality?

TheSpottedZebra · 25/11/2017 15:14

Or is the OP some pass-agg way of saying that there are people in that topic with different viewpoints?

Sparklingbrook · 25/11/2017 15:17

I wondered that Zebra. Is there a bunfight somewhere?

TheSpottedZebra · 25/11/2017 15:18

We could start a competing one here, Sparkling ?

CurlyRover · 25/11/2017 15:18

What's wrong with the philosophy and religion board?

Sparklingbrook · 25/11/2017 15:20

If they are dishing out topics I want one called 'Let's all agree with Sparkling'. Wink

TheSpottedZebra · 25/11/2017 15:22

I want a 'Biscuits of the World' topic whee I can show off my years of experience.

picklemepopcorn · 25/11/2017 15:24

It can be a bit frustrating when you are trying to talk about it and people jump in with 'what a load of rubbish, can't believe that in this day and age, sky fairy...etc.'
There are so many different ways of understanding and it's great to hear other people's, when they don't get derailed and shouted down.

derxa · 25/11/2017 15:43

It can be a bit frustrating when you are trying to talk about it and people jump in with 'what a load of rubbish, can't believe that in this day and age, sky fairy...etc.' Yes that's all I read on here. Whereas if someone says they're pagan it's all wonderful.

FlaviaAlbia · 25/11/2017 15:49

Oh good timing TheSpottedZebra, I fancy baking something I've never made before and I'm not finding anything on allrecipes, so hit me with your biscuit suggestions please..

TheSpottedZebra · 25/11/2017 15:58

Step 1 - ensure you're not in US. Their biscuits are wrong Sad
Step 2 - go to shop, buy poshest biscuits full of butter.
Avoid shortbread in shops, that will be compacted sawdust and is better home made.
Avoid Maryland (good in 80s, now shit)
Rich Tea are for people who hate life.

Ideally, go to Sains instore bakery and buy the ttd triple choc cookies. Buy 2 bags.
Consume 1st bag in car. Take 2nd bag home and share magnanimously.

derxa · 25/11/2017 16:09

Fffion There is a religion and philosophy topic area where people seem not to be a bunch of sneerers.

MissConductUS · 25/11/2017 16:29

Our biscuits are fine, it's purely a matter of linguistic divergence after the war of independence. Here the term biscuit fell into disuse, replace by cookie and cracker to denote sweet and not sweet baked good. The only thing biscuit still refers to here is something like a scone.

The Beeb explains biscuits

FlaviaAlbia · 25/11/2017 16:33

TheSpottedZebra It was all going well until you mentioned share...

MissConductUS I'm more than willing to make cookie recipes too. The more the merrier Grin

Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies

These are a favorite at our house.

The dry measures are American, so you'll have to convert them.

FlaviaAlbia · 25/11/2017 18:51

Mmn, they look gorgeous! Thank you Grin

MissConductUS · 25/11/2017 18:59

You're most welcome. Smile

If you look about in the middle of this page of a different thread you'll see pictures of my Death by Chocolate brownies.

Death by Chocolate Brownie Pictures

If you want the recipe for those PM my your email address. I have a version I've rewritten to be more UK friendly that I shared with a few of the nice ladies on that thread.

Fffion · 25/11/2017 19:18

A couple of recent threads that are basically bollocks - Nativity is abuse, and something about the Good Samaritan.

Religious topics can be briliiant to debate, when everyone knows what they are talking about. Rubbish when forceful people are totally ignorant.

I’d love to get tuck into a good bit of theology, but without the spaghetti monster brigade chipping in with their emptiness.

Tough tits you dont control the internets then, OP

custarddinosaur · 25/11/2017 19:23

Who do you mean by the spaghetti monster brigade ?

brasty · 25/11/2017 19:23

You are making me want a biscuit now.

And OP, you can't control discussions here. It is an open forum. You might be better finding a multi faith face book group to post in.

TheStoic · 25/11/2017 19:24

Swap ‘religious’ for literally every topic.
