To be Angry with b&q

Pregbabe · 06/11/2017 10:58

Hi I am 31 weeks pregnant and yesterday was in b&q doing some shopping. I was bursting for a wee so asked the female staff member if there were any toilets, she said staff ones only and I couldn't use them. I had run across to Morrisons on the other side of the retail park.

Signage was removed for B&Q toilets and staff told to discourage customer use, to cut down on costs.

Gileswithachainsaw · 07/11/2017 22:55

So staff should leave themselves open to all sorts of accusations and risk their safety taking strangers alone to secluded staff areas just in case someone decides to.piss on the floor instead?

Really?

Gileswithachainsaw · 07/11/2017 23:00

Oh and customers have zero problem witg staying in stores for a loooonnnnng time.

They doss, hang out with friends or annoy/torment staff, take piss with purchases, make complimentary drinks take an age to finish etc

A toilet would make it even harder to get rid if them

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 07/11/2017 23:03

We have a small shop and quite often lone trade

There is no way a customer could use our toilets (though I appreciate that some people are talking about very large stores)

ilovesooty · 07/11/2017 23:10

If someone is going to sneer at workers in retail for not putting their jobs at risk they should have the common decency not to name change to do it.

Cowardly and contemptible behaviour.

DontJustDoItBnQItInTheStore · 07/11/2017 23:10

If this is such a problem, big stores should install at least one customer accessible toilet. Not advertise it or put up signs but so its there for customers who need it.

End of all this jobsworth drivel and problem solved.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 07/11/2017 23:12

I agree ilovesooty

Of course it could be a new poster who got confused while googling toilets at B&Q

notacooldad · 07/11/2017 23:13

So many people desperate to follow rules and have no compassion. World's gone mad
Would you risk your livelihood for some one wanting a pee ? I wouldn't.

Gileswithachainsaw · 07/11/2017 23:13

No they really shouldn't tbh5

Toilets are more of an inconvenience than they are worth tbh

They are nothing but trouble and waste time staff should he getting on with other things

If you don't have to have one why bother

ilovesooty · 07/11/2017 23:15

jobsworth drivel

It gets better doesn't it?

Nicknacky · 07/11/2017 23:16

So who is responsible for cleaning the toilet? And fixing the blockages? Replacing loo roll and emptying the bins And kicking out the drug users?

That's right, that would be the retail staff. Just so people don't have to go look for one.

ilovesooty · 07/11/2017 23:16

Oh yes Rufus it might.

More likely to be a cowardly GF though...

Gileswithachainsaw · 07/11/2017 23:18

Ever tried getting rid of needles and drug crap nick ?

No where bloody takes it it's impossible to get rid of...

Gileswithachainsaw · 07/11/2017 23:19

Hope too many customers don't complain when staff spend an hour walking round chemists trying to get someone to agree to dispose of it Hmm

Nicknacky · 07/11/2017 23:22

giles I'm a police officer so, yeah many times. I'm agreeing with you! Lol

Nicknacky · 07/11/2017 23:22

Although I get rid of it at work.

Gileswithachainsaw · 07/11/2017 23:25

Oh I know you are..Grin

It was for the benefit of people who think we are tight jobsworths refusing poor pregnant women use of a toilet...

Spoken by people who have probably never never worked in retail .. and no a paper round in your grandad shop didn't count...

Gileswithachainsaw · 07/11/2017 23:26

Ooh does that mean I can drop the next lot of crap with you? Wink

Nicknacky · 07/11/2017 23:26

Ah ok, just thought my post maybe looked like I was disagreeing with you lol.

And yep, I did my younger years in retail too! I think everyone should!

Nicknacky · 07/11/2017 23:27

Course you can, might be a drive for you to Scotland though! Lol

Gileswithachainsaw · 07/11/2017 23:28
Grin

Damn...

user1471459936 · 08/11/2017 06:40

But it's all a bit "computer says no". Obviously saying anything here won't make a difference as the retail workers hold the keys. All (some) are asking for is for some understanding / compassion / basic human kindness.

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/11/2017 06:50

If you aren't allowed you aren't allowed. End of

Nothing to do with how compassionate a person is Confused

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/11/2017 06:53

And often store policies are amemded/added etc

So, if an establishment stops allowing people to use the loos it's probably because someone got hurt and/or the public started making a complete mess of it/trashing it/breaking it.

Be angry at those people not the store workers

Cheby · 08/11/2017 07:04

Just popping in to defend B&Q. They let us use the staff toilet when my then 2yo DD had a toilet emergency. I didn't even have to ask; she piped up that she needed a wee NOW and DH and I started looking round in a panic, assuming one of us would have to run her out to the car park. Passing staff member saw, grabbed us and took us straight to staff toilet. We were v grateful.
