Anyone know what this could be?

Posting here for traffic so yes IABU for that!

Husband just noticed this in the mirror, it's just under his lip btw.

He does suffer from cold sores but always on the top lip, but we thought it could be that. But then it looks pussy. Ingrown hairs? neither of us has seen anything like this before. tempted to squeeze it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Herpes?

Blanca87 · 04/11/2017 19:02

Herpes?

HoneyBoo269 · 04/11/2017 19:03

Impetigo maybe?

LuckyAmy1986 · 04/11/2017 19:03

Isn't that just coldsores?

Is it itchy

LuckyAmy1986 · 04/11/2017 19:05

Not itchy!

Does look like it's the hair follicles that's infected. I'd pluck out the hairs and dab with tea tree oil

Maelstrop · 04/11/2017 19:06

Treat like a cold sore, I'd say it is one. I get them a lot, a mate gets them up her nose! If he already has them, it's likely they have sprouted elsewhere. It's a virus that lives up the nerve and if he had even a tiny break in his skin last time he had a coldsore, it's likely to be the same thing.

Allthewaves · 04/11/2017 19:06

I get nose colds sores and they itch terribly

Allthewaves · 04/11/2017 19:07

Sorry just got bigger picture on ipad. Looks like coldsore not infected follicles

LuckyAmy1986 · 04/11/2017 19:08

Thing is he only gets one cold sore once a year or less, and it's always, always in the same place. Could it really be one? He hasn't had one for about 2 years now

LuckyAmy1986 · 04/11/2017 19:08

Forgive me for being naive, it's just I don't know anyone else who gets them except him and they are always very dry looking and he says very itchy

Looks like a coldsore to me. DP gets them. You can get them anywhere around the mouth/lips/nose area.

LuckyAmy1986 · 04/11/2017 19:09

Maelstrop, up her nose?! Did not know that was possible!!!

LightastheBreeze · 04/11/2017 19:11

Cold sore. I used to get just one spot on my lip but if I get a cold I get about 3 up one nostril after my colds better

laptopshmaptop · 04/11/2017 19:11

Any pain/tingling! It looks very similar to the start of shingles when I had it on my forehead (minus the hair obvs Grin)

LuckyAmy1986 · 04/11/2017 19:15

No pain or tingling! Oh dear, hope it's a cold sore rather than shingles!!

OP posts:
celticmissey · 04/11/2017 19:16

Is it painful underneath- possibly impetigo which can be contagious-

LuckyAmy1986 · 04/11/2017 19:18

No, no pain, he says he wants to itch it now but to be honest I really my chin feels really itchy now just thinking about it haha!

OP posts:
ILoveMillhousesDad · 04/11/2017 19:19

I thought impetigo too

ILoveMillhousesDad · 04/11/2017 19:21

Envy vom. DO NOT GOOGLE IMPETIGO

MikeUniformMike · 04/11/2017 19:23

dab with vodka/surgical spirit/aftershave.

laptopshmaptop · 04/11/2017 19:28

Mine was tingly (possibly could describe as itchy) to begin with then became more painful (especially when I accidentally caught a bit in my hairline with my brush ShockConfused)

But it looked exactly like that - sort of fluid filled blisters joined together. Hope it’s not shingles, but might be worth looking into. If I recall correctly, shingles is only contagious to those who haven’t had chicken pox, and infected folks shouldn’t go near immunosuppressed people and pregnant women.

MsHarry · 04/11/2017 19:29

Shingles? They come in a line. Would be quite painful though.

LightastheBreeze · 04/11/2017 19:33

My cold sores look like that, fluid filled blisters and a bit yellowish
