to expect someone on ebay to send me tickets i have paid for...

i bought wwe tickets on ebay from a genuine seller who specialises in ticket trading. the show isn't until october but all tickets are sold out and being sold for rediculous prices on ebay.

however, the start price for these tickets was £50 i expected them to go up but they didn't and i won them for £55 for a pair of ring side tickets.

all other ring side tickets were being sold at £110+ each!

i sent him an email last sunday when i won them saying due to easter hols i cant pay until tues. he replies saying thats fine and as soon as ive paid he'll send the tickets.
only just got a reply from him last night saying he made a mistake and was meant to start the sale at £150 as he bought the tickets for £120 so he doesn't know if he wants to loose £50. and he also mentioned that his friend died last week so he's upset about it! (have no idea what relevance that has!)

anyway i have now replied saying he has entered into a contract and must honour that contract. also cut and paste some of the ebay rules into the message too.

this has really pissed me off!!

surelly im not being unreasonable? Its his mistake not mine

Its his mistake, he should send them. But whether he will or not is a different matter.

his mistake - he should send. Not sure ebay would take kindly to it! By mentioning friend dying he is trying to guilt you - unfair and irrelevent.

I've only sold a couple of things on ebay so could be wrong, but surely you get about 3 confirmation screens??? How can he have got it so wrong?

i know, and there would be a big difference in the ebay charges for listing something that is £50 to something that is £150 and as he sells loads of tickets you would think he would double and triple check things like this.

He better bloody send them. he said he will decide in a day or two {angry}

It isn't up to him to decide. He has sold them, he needs to send them. You brought them honestly and fairly.

ive sent the money by paypal, but its not come out of my account yet as he hasn't claimed it yet. so i haven't lost my money

You can report him to Ebay. Look at his history and see what his other tickets started at to give you an idea of whether it is a mistake or not. Even so, he is obliged to honour the deal. Good luck.

Does he have other tickets for sale at the mo?Can you check the starting price of any of them and see if he really does make a habit of starting the prices higher...?
Only relevant because you could tell ebay that he does start other auctions at £50 if you can find prooof. Good Luck!!

all the other tickets he has on sale at the moment are buy now so il keep a look out for new listings.

He's got 99.5% feedback so he must usually be a good seller. Trust me to find a bargain that ends up to be a mistake!!

i will definately stand my ground... i want these tickets!!

and i have checked today, the money has now come out of my bank avccount so he has definately been paid for these now too

It might be a mistake but it's not your mistake.
I've sometimes bid and forgotten to put the decimal point in the right place (so bidding £374 instead of £3.74 for example ) I've always caught it before confirmation, but if I didn't I'd expect to pay that (at worst), it's not the seller's problem! This is exactly the same, but the other way round.

Idiot.

His personal circumstances are irrelevant, and, as a frequent seller, with good (up until now) feedback, you'd think he'd give himself a kick for making a silly mistake and learn to be extra careful in the future. BUT, send your tickets all the same and chalk it down to experience. Piling on emotional blackmail is NOT fair - you have no way of checking whether or not this is the truth, but even if it was, NOT your problem.

I know someone who didn't take enough care with postage charges - rather foolishly, he more or less plucked a figure out of the air, instead of taking time to measure & weigh parcel properly ...... and then found himself about £11 out of pocket on postage. I know it's not as much, but the principle's the same. He did send the parcel without quibble, because it wasn't the buyer's fault, but learnt a lesson in the process.

this is what i wrote in response to this dick head.....

You obviously have a huge problem in communication if you feel you need to use language like this.
The bottom line is you made an offer,i paid the money,the money has gone through. The required full amount has gone from my account to yours and I expect in all good faith that you will complete your end of the transaction.
I find it inappropriate when ive completed my part of the transaction 100% correctly for you to threaten me with negative feedback. This will be challenged if i have to take this further as the facts of the situation are clear for the relavent people to see.
As far as im concerned the transaction has been completed and im waiting for the tickets to arrive.You say you know the rules,so dont break them.
I would not respond with just negative feedback, i would take it further than that through the proper channels.
Its genuinely ver sad to hear your situation,and I am incredibly sorry for your loss but respectfully it is just not relevant to this situation
