Have this today also. I don't have adblock and then these massive big ads come halfway down the page and block out the options such as Active and I'm on so you can't click on them.

Laiste · 23/10/2017 18:02

And NoScript.

It's a wonder i can see anything Grin

Hopefully someone will see this soon and DO something. Please?

Yep. It seems to have just started today. Right pain in the neck.

newtlover · 23/10/2017 18:07

I've got it and I do use an ad block....but am not going to give it up! MN can tell their advertisers I go by other user's reviews, not interested in ads for stuff I dont use

Laiste · 23/10/2017 19:44

Bumping.

It's still there and still annoying.

I don't use "Adblock" but I block most ads by another method.
I'm seeing the 'whitelist' notice.

Blocking ads makes my laptop battery last much longer.
It makes MN threads load in a reasonable amount of time.
It means that slow loading MN pages don't make my entire laptop freeze up & make any web browsing impossible.

So either I block ads or I won't come on MN at all, any more. it is that simple.

Since I am the product, because I post here a lot, I donate plenty of original content. I have zero guilt.

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 23/10/2017 19:54

I'm using ad block and I see the message but no spinny thing.

I would whitelist MN (as I do other sites) if the ads weren't so ridiculously intrusive.

KathArtic · 23/10/2017 19:58

Getting it here too Hmm. Assumed it's ads. I'd rather watch the swirly thing than ads for nappies, Aunt Bessies, Fairy Liquid, etc

Laiste · 23/10/2017 20:01

Shouldn't have to have either though kath. Grrr.

MN have been asking who's getting what on the thread that clown linked to. We can pop over there to register annoyance.

It's driving me to distraction...! I'm off to the other thread.... Angry

Laiste · 24/10/2017 07:17

Bumping again.

It's still there! Hmm

But running ad block still leaves me with the silly whirly thing and the wide white space blocking the top of the page .

OP posts:
DrDreReturns · 24/10/2017 07:35

Eh? If everyone blocks the ads then mumsnet will.have no advertising revenue and shut down! The ads are a necessary evil.

RandomDreams · 24/10/2017 07:37

I have Ad Block and I get the spinning thing at the top of the page for a few seconds and then it disappears.

AdalindSchade · 24/10/2017 07:44

I agree that ads are a necessary evil usually but the massive ones at the bottom of threads were a step too far for me, and since they wanted to keep them I'm keeping Adblock

Laiste · 24/10/2017 07:54

fraudian how do i do that? In ad block?

I can't click on anything on the whirly circle strap line.

I understand how advertising works, but when the ad (or the blank space where the ad would be if you've got ad blocker) is blocking half the darn page a lot of people are going to be put off using a site.

Laiste · 24/10/2017 07:57

Right .... hang on ...
