Oh my god the morning sickness

I am only 6.5 weeks pregnant (with my second DC) and the nausea is just overwhelming.

I've been sick a fair few times but my goodness the nausea is making me feel like I can't go on Sad

I don't remember feeling this awful with my first.

Is this normal?? Please someone tell me you've been the same

Any chance it could be twins? I felt very nauseous from about week 8 to week 18, found out at 12 week scan it was twins!

I really really feel for you. I'm only just coming out of it at 17 weeks. It's been very hard, also my second.
Am still on the anti sickness meds cos am still sick some days.
Try nap when you can, I work part time so just collect dd and pop her in the bed with me for the afternoon. Although don't need to do that as often thankfully!
If your vomiting a lot get the meds off your doctor.Flowers

Although mine lasted right through.
I was an unusual case, though.
Where you not sick with your first.
They say morning sickness is worse if you're carrying a girl. I had a girl, so there could be some truth in it.

Not with my second but with my third.

Had two sickness free pregnancies (one of each sex) but got hit hard this time.

It's totally normal, I felt sick from the moment I got a positive which was very early and got all the twin comments. My first I felt sick for 12 weeks then on and off, my second was constant for the 40 weeks and my third (currently 29 weeks) I felt absolutely horrendous for 13 weeks then it just disappeared... so hold tight, chances are it will go.

Nothing worse than that feeling though... with number two I was throwing up which I think made it slightly better as you get temporary relief, this time around I wasn't actually sick so it was constant nausea.

Also I'm on boy number 3 so the girl thing definitely doesn't ring true for me, and didn't for anyone else I know!!

I hope it gets better, and just eat whatever you want whenever you want. Even if that's pizza every day, just to get you through.

I was like this with baby 2 .whole way through felt like constant hangover . I was taking spatone for iron it's rubbish my levels were very low and in hindsight I think the lack of iron might have made it worse . Get your levels checked

Poor you! I remember it well with my second. I would be simultaneously puking and wanting to eat salt and vinegar crisps. A weird time!!

I felt horrendous from about 7 weeks to 20 weeks, vomiting 6+ times a day. It wasn't twins though! DH was banned from cooking or eating any smelly foods in the house (he ate take away in his car after work everyday!), I was signed off work for a bit and I still can't stomach certain foods that caused particularly violent reactions. You have all my sympathy. Remember; it will pass and, in the meantime, be kind to yourself!

Feel so sorry for those of you who have had terrible sickness in pregnancy.

I felt like I might die from weeks 6-26 and no bugger believed me (midwives I mean, DH could see I was really ill.) my useless midwife found ketone in every urine dip and despite me telling her I was sick roughly every hour she still wrote 'mum feeling fine' in my notes.

If it doesn't get better, make sure someone believes you.

It's the worst. But normal

Try and get melds for it and in the meantime, try ginger.

I survived an entire month in salt and vinegar crisps and ginger biscuits. You have my sympathies.

Very normal, I spent the firsts 6 MONTHS of my pregnancy sat on the loo, puking in a bowl and erring at the same time Blush

See your Gp for medication. There are safe options and they do help. Don't worry at all about trying to eat well or, indeed at all unless you are severely underweight.

It's horrid but it passes in nearly all women or should I say people? by about 14 weeks.

It's awful isn't it ? The only thing that helped me with my third which was worse incidentally was to eat little and often. It's the strangest feeling, feeling hungry and sick at the same time. I liked bland meals the best lots of carbs. And I craved salt which was probably my bodies way of telling me I needed salt. I loved jacket potatoes with cheese

I can’t remember my four pregnancies because I had hyperemesis. Please, please go straight to the GP and get on top of it with some decent medication. If you get on top of it earlier it tends to be better.

There’s a pregnancy sickness support thread in pregnancy I think.

OP - I really really feel for you. It is horrific. I had HG with both my pregnancies and was put on anti emetics from around 7 weeks with little effect. I had nausea and vomiting all the way through both times and in fact still vomited after I had given birth!! What I found really worked in my second ( did not know about it otherwise would have had it for my first) was acupuncture. I saw a midwife every week from about 8 weeks onwards with number 2. It literally made me able to function. She left small needles in every week which I just pressed if I felt really awful. Might be worth an investigate?

I was the same with my second DC (a girl), far worse than with my first (a boy) and it lasted until around 20 weeks. I put it down to the fact that I was older and more knackered, and subsequently perhaps because it was a girl (this is probably just an old wives tale though). It even used to wake me up in the night, so no respite even when asleep. I only dealt with it by seriously overloading on carbs. Peanut butter and jam on toast a particular favourite.

'Fraid so.

I'm having an HG pregnancy this time round and it started off exactly like that. The best thing for it is rest, rest and more rest. Eat what you can even if it's next to nothing but make sure you take as much fluid as possible. Get to your GP if you're really struggling. There's safe medication you can try and it's always worth a check up. I'm 25 weeks now and can now say that I'm starting to feel better....

19 weeks here and I'm just starting to feel sick but have had the runs for weeks! My husband is a lucky lucky man!

I had terrible sickness when pregnant with my daughter, but hardly anything with my son.
