To think this comment is nonsense

"Your home should always be spotless because you never know who is going to knock at the door." Said to me by a friend after I declined hosting a get together at my house with some mutual friends, as I said my house is quite messy. I have 4 children and I'm a single parent (never get a break as ex is absent and I have no family,) baby is going through a phase of screaming blue murder if not being held, but apparently "there are no excuses."

I'm sure she'd be delighted to host in your stead, then. Wink

Of course it's nonsense.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/10/2017 23:35

I don't know what planet your "friend"
lives on, but it sure ain't this one.

Misspollyhadadollie · 19/10/2017 23:38

Thank goodness others agree with me. When I was telling her how difficult it is as I hardly ever get a chance to tidy as the baby is stuck to me all day (cluster feeding) and the only chance I really get is a night when she's asleep but by then I'm exhausted I was told "well it's not impossible" the joke is she has one child who is a teen but was comparing me to her saying she still manages to have a spotless home. (I have 4 kids under 7)

She isn’t a friend.

StitchesInTime · 19/10/2017 23:40

It’s the sort of comment I’d love to say was true for my house.

But sadly not. My house is not always spotless just in case (important person of choice) should knock on the door demanding a cup of tea.

ticketytock1 · 19/10/2017 23:42

What a load of dick.. I only have 2 kids and I have a husband.... when people knock my door I sometimes hide because of the mess lol!
She is being silly and not living in the real world!

Ummmmgogo · 19/10/2017 23:42

tell your 'friend' about that old expression, "tidy house, empty life"!

Fuckoffee · 19/10/2017 23:43

Is your friend Mrs Bucket from Keepin Up Appearances? She sounds very stuffy and prim. Not my type of friend at all.

Dozer · 19/10/2017 23:44

Wow, you can do without “friends” like her!

Queenofthedrivensnow · 19/10/2017 23:44

She just dressed up an insult that's all.

Op I fully sympathise with the limpet baby as dd2 was like that and I am a lone parent x

DJBaggySmallpox · 19/10/2017 23:45

Has she been replaced by her Stepford Wife version? Does her husband look shifty?

TalkinBoutWhat · 19/10/2017 23:46

She isnt your friend, shes your frenemy.

BakedBeans47 · 19/10/2017 23:46

What shite

Ignore

VladmirsPoutine · 19/10/2017 23:49

Were you trying to confide in her due to something else and she came up with that gem? You say you have a baby which makes up part of the 4 kids under 7?

Ceto · 19/10/2017 23:57

Offer to lend her your children for the weekend and see how spotless her house is after that.

ecuse · 20/10/2017 00:01

Wait. You're a single parent with a baby and three other kids? And she's having a dig about tidying? What a massive twat.

Madwoman5 · 20/10/2017 00:03

Wow. How is the weather up there on her moral highground?

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 20/10/2017 00:03

Ditch her.

Misspollyhadadollie · 20/10/2017 00:04

She's always like it tbh when she came to see the baby she said I needed to get carpet on my stairs, I haven't been able to afford it since I moved in.

OP posts:
CotedePablo · 20/10/2017 00:05

Remind her of the saying 'dull women have immaculate houses'.

JugglingMummyof2 · 20/10/2017 00:05

Does she know that your ex abandoned you when you were pregnant with his child and already had three small children? Come over all Mumsnetty, look her straight in the eye and ask her 'Are you on glue?'

ferriswheel · 20/10/2017 00:07

What pp said, she isn't your friend.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 20/10/2017 00:09

Why do you bother with her? She sounds like a right cow.

Misspollyhadadollie · 20/10/2017 00:11

Don't have many friends tbh. The mutual friends we have were introduced to me by her (though I've known them years now) that's probably why. Baby is awake again, she fell asleep for literally 20 minutes and still have to he up for the school run tomorrow. I explained to her that I'm literally getting hardly any sleep.

Not only that, the dickhead appears to have expected OP to host the get together too (rather than offering up her own, presumably spotless, house). As if OP doesn't have enough on her plate Hmm
