Helmans mayonnaise

AIBU or have they changed the recipe? This used to be my favourite condiment. I'd have it on anything and everything. Now I've noticed a jar lasts months rather than A month. A quick Google finds that other Hellman mayo fans have noticed a change for the worse too, but the company deny making any changes. Am I going mad?

Haven't noticed it tasting different, but I don't eat it very much.

I haven't tried it yet- but I bought some the other day and my DD was having it with chips and said 'this mayo tastes as if it's gone off' - I said it couldn't have because I'd only just bought it - but presumably it was the new taste. Why do they change stuff that is fine ?

Waitrose olive oil mayo is much nicer than Helmans. I think it’s just under £2.

Its crap. Best mayonnaise ive found in the uk is sainsburys own brand french style

Still tastes fine to me! Unless I just bought an old one... I hope they haven't changed it. I love it. Too many taste really mustardy which I hate. Hellmans has a little vinegary tang but I can't taste mustard.

The Helmans best tasting one in the squeezy tube is not nice at all. Far too thick and just not right.

Speaking of products which have changed, has anyone noticed Heinz ketchup doesn't taste the same anymore? To me it tastes as if it has too much clove in it, and I hate cloves [envy ] (

They've changed the recipe of the mayo in jars to the same as the mayo in the squeezy bottles - they now both have paprika extract in, which I'm allergic to SadAngry It was one of the only mayos without mustard or paprika... my sandwiches are very dry and boring now!

Helmans has definitely changed for the worse and I don't give a damn what the company says. I stopped using it quite a while ago because it's horrid now.

I'd second Waitrose mayonnaise - the olive oil one is lovely, but the ordinary one is fine.
Hellmans is horrid, runny and vinegary.
Best ketchup is either Lidl or Sainsbury's.

I stopped buying this, I really started to dislike it, I buy the Heinz one now which I find really nice.

I love Hellmans ( can't bear any other kind because I can feel the fillers/thickeners they use in my mouth, ugh)..please tell me it hasn't changed? :(

Waitrose cheap stuff in our house, same for ketchup (although we have Heinz ATM as Ocado we're out of cheap stuff and there would be outcry from the males in the household, I can't stand the stuff!)

I haven't noticed a difference. Though may be I'm still using up older stuff, as I tend to stick up when it's on offer.

I think it's always had paprika. About four years ago I had an allergic reaction which we thought might have been caused by paprika, so I checked all my condiments, and was gutted to find it in my mayo. (But I seem to be fine with paprika now - phew!)

I buy own make as the squeezy helmans was really hard to get the mayo out. Think its currently aldi stuff

A better question might have been "how can we sell this stuff at the same price as before, despite the increase in cost of ingredients ?"

More cheap stuff, less expensive stuff.

Funnily enough a blog I subscribe to had a similar grumble about mustard earlier this year with the conclusion that formulas are definitely favouring the more cheap/less nice approach.

It might be putting the cat amongst the pigeons, but how much extra would people be prepared to pay to get the original product back ? 10% ? 15 %

Would they be prepared to pay that for all foodstuff ?
