saw an old man today happily trundling down the dual carriage way in his mobility scooter with a tartan blanket over his knee, happily waving the cars past.it wasnt just that he was in mortal danger but it was 3 miles to the next slip road and i was worried his battery would run out before he reached it

The old guy round the road regularily goes 3 miles to the shops in his to do his shopping.. despite our offers of help!!

I could say that well actually bikes shouldn't be on the pavement.......but then I'd be accused of being controversial

OMG...I thought there was a minimum speed limit for Dual carraigeways...am sure dh told me that, and that that is the reason why mopeds can't go on them and scooters, I think, can, as they just reach that limit....however mihgt be wrong!
But, what a stupid thing to do...surely it's dangerous!
And littlelapin, that is awful behaviour, too...just because you are on a scooter does not excuse common courtesy and common sense!

little lapin a similar thing happened to me in a shopping centre. an old lady going incredibily fast on one of those scooters almost ran down my small son. i had to push him out of the way an onto the floor. when i asked the old dear what she was doing (but not in such polite terms!) she just shrugged and scootered off!it was a clear case of oap scooter rage if ever i saw one

3andnomore, I know that rule applies to Motorways, but am not sure about dual carriageways.

I can beat that - I saw on on the A34 - a major dual carriageway round Oxford, on one, dragging a fecking sheepdog.

i think the rules say that only children under 9 are allowed to cycle on pavements so a small child would have been ok

my nan and her best mate both have scooters, my nan has just upgraded hers because it didn't go as fast as her friends one
