Yes, I am totally BU but I’m really desperate.

I’m fending of a cold, I’m stressed with work and have a big event coming up in front of about 2000 people so naturally it’s shown up.

I’ve applied surgical spirit, I’ve got an light zapper thing, and I’ve got l-lysine tablets.

What else can I do? Please?!

Leave it alone! Don't poke prod or zap it. Aciclovir and leave it be

MuchasSmoochas · 11/10/2017 17:20

One of those UV light things, they are fab. I have Lipzor, I think Boots have their own brand? www.salihughesbeauty.com/reviews/sali-loves-boots-avert-coldsore-machine/

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 11/10/2017 17:21

there are those plaster things you can put on that might help camouflage it?
Going to google now and look for link

Worriednearlymum · 11/10/2017 17:22

The compeed plasters are ace and you can put make up over the top last for 12 hrs.

BitchyInnerMonologue · 11/10/2017 17:22

Plaster things won’t work where it is - right in the corner and dragging down off my lip.

Leaving it alone - and cream doesn’t work for me; anything on my lips and they multiply. Sad

Huge sympathies. After years of trying different methods what I find works well is holding ice against it (wrapped in muslin or kitchen towel). It seems to kill it and sooth that awful pulsing.

willisurvive2under2 · 11/10/2017 17:25

That's all the things I would do - take a lot of lysine, that always helps me.

BitchyInnerMonologue · 11/10/2017 17:26

Bugger. I was hoping that someone would have a magic answer. Oh well, vitamins and lysine for me! Wine must help though - surely?! Wink

SaucyJack · 11/10/2017 17:29

Have you tried aciclovir cream?

It's antiviral.

sentenceinterrupted · 11/10/2017 17:35

years of big ones whenever i got ill (or had a baby). Best thing ever for me was the light zapper thing. Makes them go much faster than anything else i ever used. also stops them from coming up if i get it when it's just a tingle (or makes it a small one).

BitchyInnerMonologue · 11/10/2017 17:37

I’ve gone from tingle at 2pm to throbbing huge blister at 4pm. I look vaaaairy attractive don’t ya know?!

Ice cube inside a plastic bag so your skin stays dry. Hold it on for as long as you can bear it. Repeat as needed. Good luck!

WhatIsThisBug · 11/10/2017 17:38

As much sleep and rest as you can not easy if you are busy I know! But it's when your immune system gets to work.

What I have found is swimming in the sea clears it up very quickly, I think it is maybe the salt? So if you could somehow replicate that at home bathe it in cold salt water?

It's so shit isn't it good luck!

BitchyInnerMonologue · 11/10/2017 17:45

Ice cube being applied. Light thing done. Rest... I think I’ll try an early bed. Stuff to do, but I’m knackered, and AF just showed up early.

How many Lysine tablets do people take? I have 1000mg dose.

Iloveanimals · 11/10/2017 17:45

Compeed patches are wonderful but does depend where the Coldsore is. I hate them.

PickAChew · 11/10/2017 17:47

You can get a topical lysine stick that keeps them moist and does seems to zap them. I get the quantum superlysine coldstick and sometimes the ointment from Amazon.

BitchyInnerMonologue · 11/10/2017 17:49

The stick is £266!!! Really?!

OP posts:
PickAChew · 11/10/2017 17:49

And I can't stand the competed patches as they break the surface when they come off. Topical acyclovir just irritates and dries my skin and aggravates them.

washingmachinefastwash · 11/10/2017 17:50

My husband uses tea tree cream from pound world. It’s the only thing that takes the redness out and scab quicker.

PickAChew · 11/10/2017 17:55

I pay under a tenner. Unfortunately, it appears to be completely out of stock, which is a pita because I need a new one for my handbag! There's still some ointment, which is better, but not available immediately

BitchyInnerMonologue · 11/10/2017 17:57

Thank goodness! I was a bit Confused there!

Sohurt17 · 11/10/2017 17:58

The light zapper machine is no longer available unfortunately Sad

BitchyInnerMonologue · 11/10/2017 17:59

I have one from Boots so that’s okay.
