To enjoy being in hospital?

Am I really weird to enjoy being in hospital?

I have recently had an overnight stay for a minor operation, and the whole build up to the operation, plus the stay and recovery afterwards, I have really enjoyed Confused

I love having an atheistic, love the wooziness afterwards, plus the lovely sleep drifting in and out of consciousness.

I love having cups of tea brought to me, and being able to legitimately have a nice rest.

Obviously it goes without saying that if I was in hospital for something serious it would be horrific and scary, and I would find it terrifying and want to be anywhere but hospital.

So AIBU to feel this way?

I had a hysterectomy the beginning of the year and had my own private room. I quite enjoyed the peace and quiet.

YANBU. I think a lot of us crave an 'excuse' to rest. It's nice to have the pressure taken off - shame we can't all be kinder to ourselves with regularity.

I enjoyed my stay after the birth of DD.
No cooking, washing up, cleaning, etc.

I could just focus on DD and having a rest.

I loved it last time I was there, which was during one of my pregnancies. I had complete rest and peace. And the food was quite nice too.

I love being in hospital too. Makes a nice change to have someone looking after me for s change.

Glad I’m not alone Grin.

It is ridiculous though that it’s a treat to have a minor operation in order to have a rest from the daily grind!

All your responsibilities are taken away from you and you have fuck all to do except rest, focus on getting better and enjoy the tea and toast they bring you!

I'm due major surgery on my leg soon

I can't wait to get some sleep!

(I spent 9 months in hospital as a teen, stick a cellular blanket over me and I'm unconscious regardless of how loud it is!)

I hate being in hospital but I did love being under General anaesthetic. I even asked the guy who woke me up if they could put me back under as it was the most refreshing sleep I'd had in a long time Blush

Obviously like you say I would feel completely different if it was something more serious

YANBU. I had to be in for 3 weeks once (was v.v.v. Poorly) and once I was a bit better not off my face on morphine I really enjoyed it. I didn’t want to go home Grin

I love GA. That feeling is awesome and I can totally see how people get addicted to pain meds, that woozy feeling is the nicest thing in the world.

I don't really mind being in hospital on a quiet ward/private room, but a busy ward is hell cos i never sleep. i'd rather take my opiates and hobble very slowly run.

I loved it. The staff were absolutely amazing and the other women in my ward were so nice. We had long chats about everything under the sun but then I was moved suddenly to another bit of the hospital and I never saw them again. I still think of them and wonder what happened to them all

I used to think I liked having a GA until the last one for major abdo surgery made me so ill - I vomited all over myself, all over the theatre nurse and all over the floor when I came round. Then I discovered that morphine has the same effect. I would be a rubbish junkie.

But yes, peace and quiet was nice as were lovely nurses looking after me and not bothering about the vomit.

Not at all. I had 4 weeks on bed rest in my own room. I loved it! Plus I love the wooziness of an anaesthetic!

Had 3 antenatal stats for monitoring and loved 'em all! Chance to have a proper rest.

God I always say I would love s week in hospital for the break

A week on laying in bed with my kindle and phone would be bliss

Don't want to go on with anything major but the rest would be great

YANBU. I had a night in hospital before DD2 was born. At the time DD1 was a toddler. It was the most relaxing experience of my life since having DD1 and was better than a spa day Smile. I still feel relaxed now when I think about it.

I didn't get to stay in hospital after my op a few years ago but the two days after were the nicest I've had in a long time. I was lucky to not have any pain but I was very tired from the anaesthetic and was a bit wobbly. The DC were staying with my parents so DH looked after me and it was lovely. I lay in bed watching TV and reading and DH bought me food and drinks, helped me shower and changed my dressings, got me up for a little walk every couple of hours. It was wonderful to be really properly looked after for once. So no YANBU!

You are all crazy. Peace and quiet? It's like trying to sleep in the main concourse of Kings Cross Station! And the toilets are grim. When I was in after my C-section I remember thinking it was the least therapeutic environment a person could ever find themselves in.

I have a daycase op soon and I am not looking forward to it. And I now consider a dental appointment as practically a spa day.

YADNBA I was in for day surgery a couple of years ago and didn't want to come home, I am due for a gynaecologist op which will involve a couple of nights stay and 8 weeks off work. I cannot wait Grin

A friend of mine used to fantasise about having a bad femur break and being in traction, when her kids were small. It would mean guilt free lounging, watching TV or reading. I think most mums feel this way when going through a particularly tiring phase.

Not U at all.

I had a minor op earlier this year and an overnight stay. It was lovely. I wish I could've stayed in a bit longer.

Your all properly nuts! Hate it. Been in a lot...hate the drugs, the noise, the endless intrusion from nurses. Just grim.
