Posting here for traffic really.
I need help finiding curtains for my bedroom, needs to go with light duckegg dresser , pale grey walls, gold accents (and cream carpet).
I don't want all one colour and definitely not velvet. I don't mind floral but not "old lady" floral if that makes sense.
I have looked in john lewis, next, dunelm, laura ashley.... where else should i look?
Or what colours would you look for?
I'm beginning to feel like what i want doesn't exist! (And I can't even clearly explain what I want Confused)

I have lovely dark duck egg ones. Go to small independent shop. They will have nicer ones. We went to one in london.

ILoveDolly · 05/10/2017 22:12

You might have to get them made because that way there will be a proper choice

tealandteal · 05/10/2017 22:15

We got ours online - curtains 2 go. My mum got some from here as well as she had a very small but wide window and could have them made to fit. In your case I would get a wide bold stripe something like cream, duck egg and navy

catscatscats20 · 05/10/2017 22:17

Have you tried looking on curtains 247, they have a wide range. There online but send samples of fabric so you can make sure there the right feel and colour before buying.

DanHumphreyIsA · 05/10/2017 23:14

Check 'curtains curtains curtains', they have all sorts of styles.
Also look on ebay, I found some which have a grey/taupey top, and the rest is cream.

Heebejeebees · 05/10/2017 23:45

Try ZaraHome

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 05/10/2017 23:46

I know what you mean.
I wanted plain grey. No pattern, no flecks, no pattern in the fabric. It was nearly impossible.

www.britishmadeinteriors.com/curtains

I just bought some made to measures here in Orla Kiely fabric. Came today and were lovely. Lots of choice of fabrics

WeeM · 06/10/2017 00:14

I don't even really have any solutions for you but I do have sympathy! I spent months trying to find curtains!! Getting them made was just working out too expensive but finally I got a pair of ready mades in John Lewis. If getting them made is within your budget I'd def do that as the choice of fabric is endless-for 90x90s I was looking at at least £350 a pair.
The app Houzz is worth a look for ideas for colours etc.

enceladus · 06/10/2017 01:52

In the past I have bought from some french sites online who imho tend to have a wider variety of colours, for homeware and soft furnishings.I however have a stupid ass bay window, that I can't get curtains for anywhere, going to have to pay for them to be made.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/10/2017 02:04

Make your own. It's pretty easy!

I bought some curtain fabric in a £1 per metre sale from Plumbs and it was thick and gorgeous quality and came in some lovely greens. This was a few years ago, but I remember they had some great stuff if you look beyond the fugly home page. I was really happy with the quality and service.

Agustarella · 06/10/2017 03:41

Dunelm is horrible quality IMO, I like Laura Ashley but it's quite a distinctive look which might be too trad or chintzy or whatever for some people.

ZaraW · 06/10/2017 05:38

I get my curtains from Habitat they are in linen or cotton and are reasonably priced and the quality is v good.

GinUser · 06/10/2017 05:45

www.linenfabrics.co.uk
Ada and Ina have some lovely linen fabrics and will make bespoke curtains. I have the linen bedclothes, bliss.

flumpybear · 06/10/2017 06:10

I had a similar problem finding curtains I like too - Next had some I liked in the end

NemoRocksMyWorld · 06/10/2017 06:46

Making your own is honestly really easy! Then you can choose any fabric you like!

mummypleeeaaaasseeee · 06/10/2017 07:52

Thanks everyone!
I will have a proper look at these suggestions.
I'm intrigued by the french websites, any particular ones?

Should have said I don't want to spend a fortune as in the past I have changed curtains yearly (although if i can find ones I actually like i might not) so was hoping to find ready made ones.
I have thought of making them but seems a bit daunting, I haven't done any sewing for about 15 years !

Thanks bungle
I have seen these, but pattern is a bit too busy for me.
I want floral but sort of light and breezy.
Have posted a few photos of fabric i saw at dunelm. If it wouldn't cost a fortune to have them made I would get one of these.
Anyone seen any ready made ones that look similar?

My bedroom is similar and I got my curtains from John Lewis. Did you go in OP and really take your time? It took me ages to find the right material but I am really pleased with the results. I had them made by John Lewis and the finish is excellent.

Ropsleybunny · 06/10/2017 08:00

I previously had some curtains made by Dunelm and I was extremely disappointed with them. They didn't hang right at all.

mummypleeeaaaasseeee · 06/10/2017 08:00

Or good tutorial on how to make your own. I would want eyelet. But the lining?Confused
