To not tell DH that I gave him laxatives?

ProverbialOuthouse · 30/09/2017 15:20

Not as bad as it sounds but close enough. I was making myself a protein smoothly and asked DH if he wanted one. He did.

Ingredients was milk, blueberries, protein powder and a shit load of chia seeds. I suffer with chronic constipation, hence the seeds and I didn't think to adapt his ingredients.

He normally has 3 poos a day so certainly doesn't need any help in that area!

Anyway he keeps going backwards and forwards to toilet saying he can't stop shitting. I've played ignorant so far - should I tell him?? (He'll make a song and dance about it, which is why I haven't so far!)

Depends how likely he is to want to seek medical help and have you Sat in a & e on a Saturday night!!

retainertrainer · 30/09/2017 15:22

If he's worried that he's ill then just say it could have been the chia seeds.

QOD · 30/09/2017 15:22

Nah. Hahaha

Gorgosparta · 30/09/2017 15:22

Chia seeds arent a laxative. And he will have known they were in there, chis seeds arent easy to hide in a protein shake.

If things impact him like this, he needs to question what he is eating, imo.

abbsisspartacus · 30/09/2017 15:23

It might be the chia seeds some people have problems with them ? Innocent sentence no blame attached ?

MrsJayy · 30/09/2017 15:23

Urm ermm what 😕 of couse you tell him just say it must have been the shake why would he make a hoha about it

HeyRoly · 30/09/2017 15:24

Well they're not technically laxatives, they're seeds which help you poo. I think you should tell him, because he might think he's ill. Just say "you're welcome" and it's good to have a clear out sometimes Grin

VladmirsPoutine · 30/09/2017 15:25

I don't know what the issue is. I have chia seeds in my yoghurt most mornings and probably have a shit 4 times a week let alone a day.
Just let him get on with it. He needs to look at what he's eating though. Who shits 3 times a day!?

Danceswithwarthogs · 30/09/2017 15:27

What otherwise healthy person would go to a and e for diarrhoea Hmm

MrsMotherHen · 30/09/2017 15:27

i thought you had spiked your husband intentionally. Come on its just some fruit hardly laxatives.

ViserionTheDragon · 30/09/2017 15:27

3 poos a day? That's a lot!

I'm like you OP. I personally wouldn't tell him.

Santawontbelong · 30/09/2017 15:29

An old friend's dh made a protein shake with breast milk she had in the fridge and he insisted on going to get checked out incase it had done something to him!! Trying to tell him it hadn't done 4 x dc any harm fell on deaf ears!!

MrsJayy · 30/09/2017 15:30

3 poos a day is a lot of poop

SteampunkPrincess · 30/09/2017 15:31

He normally has 3 poos a day so certainly doesn't need any help in that area! bloody hell

InsomniacAnonymous · 30/09/2017 15:32

Yes, of course you should tell him.

ShizzleYoDrizzle · 30/09/2017 15:35

A&E for the squits?

Grin

Just casually say 'oh I wonder if it was the chia seeds'.

mintich · 30/09/2017 15:37

......I go three times a day some days! Asked the doctor about it once and he said I just have a fast metabolism!

MrsJayy · 30/09/2017 15:41

I am a slow digester Blush think i need those seeds

changemyname1 · 30/09/2017 15:43

I do 3 poos a day, it's when it changes for a few weeks from what's normal for you that you need to talk to someone medical.

Albertschair · 30/09/2017 15:46

You didn't feed him laxatives you feed him fibre containing food.

3 shits a day is perfectly normal. As is 1 every 3 days.

But if he normally has 3 a day, a lot of fibre may well make him go more often

Why wouldn't you tell him?

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 30/09/2017 15:50

You didn't feed him laxatives. What a weird over-reaction.

MargaretTwatyer · 30/09/2017 15:52

Tell him so he doesn't think he's sick and has an idea when it will wear off.

Ropsleybunny · 30/09/2017 15:56

Three times a day is perfectly normal. Chia seeds and blueberries will have helped things along, as they're both high in fibre. Only a real change in bowel habit is something to see the doctor about.

melj1213 · 30/09/2017 15:57

Just tell him ... you hardly gave him a laxative intentionally or maliciously.

"Oh, it might have been the chia seeds - they can be used for constipation relief so they might just be having that effect on you today. I'll know not to put them in smoothies for you in future!"

andpeggy29 · 30/09/2017 16:06

Just go out n get in some immodioum he will be fine after that
