To not tell DH that I gave him laxatives?

Not as bad as it sounds but close enough. I was making myself a protein smoothly and asked DH if he wanted one. He did.

Ingredients was milk, blueberries, protein powder and a shit load of chia seeds. I suffer with chronic constipation, hence the seeds and I didn't think to adapt his ingredients.

He normally has 3 poos a day so certainly doesn't need any help in that area!

Anyway he keeps going backwards and forwards to toilet saying he can't stop shitting. I've played ignorant so far - should I tell him?? (He'll make a song and dance about it, which is why I haven't so far!)

Chia seeds have the opposite effect on me

AnnieAnoniMouse · 30/09/2017 16:13

Nah - if he'll be a twat about it let him wonder. He'll be right soon enough. I couldn't stand living with a grumpy idiot though.

He does not need imododium 😂

winglesspegasus · 30/09/2017 16:13

sounds like he needed a cleanout
nah dont tell him

I poo at least 3 times a day. But I eat loads of fruit and veg- easily10 serves a day. I thought that was normal!

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 30/09/2017 16:41

SecretEscapesWannabe It is normal. It's like height - there's a huge range of 'normal' in bowel movements. The important thing is normal for the individual: going from 3-a-day to 3-a-week would be worrying, but always being at 3-a-week would be fine.

Chia seeds aren't a laxative, well, at least no more than anything else is that has fibre in it. I make my 4 year old chia pudding so she eats loads of them regularly, so laxative effects here.

SecretEscapesWannabe · 30/09/2017 16:46

Makes sense. :)

DS aged 7 recently had a bit of constipation. So I shoved sweet corn and peas down him. He's usually a bit Hmm about both, but thankfully telling him it would make him feel better meant he ate it. Very useful. Grin

I had no idea that Chia seeds were supposed to be laxatives.

I have them most days on my porridge with no ill effects.

Justdontknow4321 · 30/09/2017 17:03

No I wouldn't tell him, he will be fine

eurochick · 30/09/2017 17:43

Pret sells yoghurts with chia seeds. I often have them for lunch with no noticeable effects. I had no idea they were supposed to have a laxative effect. I've heard that about linseeds but not chia.
