Ok, so I have a flat mate (my best friend) and he has a relatively new girlfriend who he's fallen in love with; the feeling is mutual apparently. She's really nice and I'm v happy for them so all good so far.
They've been constantly together for the last few weeks and I came back from the cinema last night to find that they'd had sex on my bloody couch!! We have a really nice flat, roof terrace etc and most importantly, he has his own room. Why the hell would you need to use my sofa?!
Does anyone else think that this is really out of order?

Euw. Yes that would annoy me. How did you find out?

TheStoic · 29/09/2017 13:31

Um...how did you find that out?

Owlettecatboy · 29/09/2017 13:31

Yuck. YANBU

Sohurt17 · 29/09/2017 13:31

How do you know they had sex on your couch? Did they tell you or did they leave a wet patch?

Sohurt17 · 29/09/2017 13:32

Haha xpost with everyone Grin

RavingRoo · 29/09/2017 13:34

Who’s name is on the lease? Could this be an unsubtle way to get you to leave?

shushpenfold · 29/09/2017 13:40

We're both on the lease. It's all a bit strange really because it's as if he's just so loved up that everything's fine if it's to do with him and her being in love. He's even said that she's starting to choose his music for him; they can only listen to love songs, nothing else!

misshelena · 29/09/2017 13:52

YANBU but sounds like you need to speak to the new gf, not your roomie.

shushpenfold · 29/09/2017 13:57

OK, that makes sense considering that she's always here anyway. Hmm

OP posts:
Ttbb · 29/09/2017 13:59

Is the couch actually yours?

KityGlitr · 29/09/2017 13:59

WHy would she need to speak to the girlfriend? It's her flatmate she has an issue with, feeling like he's disrespecting her property.

SaucyJack · 29/09/2017 13:59

I like that you've apparently suggested the roof terrace as a better option.

shushpenfold · 29/09/2017 14:02

Yes, definitely my couch.

Saucy - granted it's a touch cold for al fresco shagging, but at least they'd stop leaving bodily fluids on my furniture then! Perhaps they could give the neighbours a thrill, in between songs....she's a singer, so is constantly humming/singing. Nice voice though. Smile

OP posts:
TurnipCake · 29/09/2017 14:05

I wouldn't be annoyed, I'd be livid.

If they want to hump their way around a flat, they can rent one themselves, not in a shared space.

shushpenfold · 29/09/2017 14:11

I'm so glad it's not just me who thinks this.

I wouldn't mind but the girlfriend is obviously minted so they could easily afford to go to hotels if they really don't want to use his room instead. She must be a really successful singer as they're always out at really 'hot' clubs and must spend a furtune on cabs.

OP posts:
TurnipCake · 29/09/2017 14:14

I'd nip it in the bud as soon as possible, there are boundaries in a flatshare that you don't cross. That includes the GF being there all the time - an old flatmate of mine did this, her boyfriend was round constantly and in the end I felt completely pushed out of where I was living.

RhiannonOHara · 29/09/2017 14:30

They can get the sofa dry-cleaned or replace it, for starters.

Then I'd set a house rule of 'sex in your bedroom only'.

shushpenfold · 29/09/2017 19:58

I've just found them at it again!!

This is driving me nuts; it's like the rest of the world doesn't exist. She keep whittering on about not wanting to hear about anything bad in the world, sad songs etc because she's so in love. Still doesn't mean that she can shag her boyfriend on my couch though!

OP posts:
StripeyDeckchair · 29/09/2017 20:01

You've caught the at it twice now!

Is she some kind of exhibitionist who gets off on being caught in the act?
I suggest chucking cold water over them next time and telling them to get a room and bloody well stay in it.

shushpenfold · 29/09/2017 20:07

Quite possibly; I hadn't thought about that. Confused She's even says that she's now written a song about him, she's so infatuated. FFS.

OP posts:
MyBrilliantDisguise · 29/09/2017 20:10

Why wouldn't he use his room? That doesn't make any sense! Even if they started when you were out, they wouldn't know that you wouldn't interrupt them.

Maelstrop · 29/09/2017 20:14

This is going to make you horribly uncomfortable long term. When does the lease end? I think you need serious words with him about staying in the bedroom. It's a shared flat, not just his. It's not fair on you.

Santawontbelong · 29/09/2017 20:15

You need to make a sign for the couch
'Sorry this is a shag-free zone.
The bedroom is > way.'

NormHonal · 29/09/2017 20:17

Well done Op.

Just worked it out.

Her name's Rita, right?
