Or does no one actually use "borrow my doggy"

That's it really - signed up as someone offering to walk/dog sit as I'm home during the days and fancied some canine company and the excuse to get out and have a walk.

Sent a few messages etc (am an experienced dog owner - just can't have one at this time) but zilch back... it's a scam isn't it Smile I was conned into a subscription by those lovely waggy tailed photos on Facebook ads

Very popular where I live.

Goingslowlymad1 · 28/09/2017 23:20

@euphemia well that's why I thought I would do ok- I'm around in the daytime so basically assumed I would be like a free dog sitter! But no leads Grin

Maybe I'm not setting the tone right when I send messages- though it's always quite odd to send the messages addressed to the dog ! I tend to say dear the address to the owner - it makes for an interesting way of trying to communicate!

RandomMess · 28/09/2017 23:23

I was on it as a walker but have my own dog now Grin

Mine is too neurotic to be walked by others, took 6 months before she'd let the DC walk her without me, thought she was getting dogknapped

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 28/09/2017 23:23

Near Plymouth? hopes

Goingslowlymad1 · 28/09/2017 23:25

Sorry @viviennewestwoodsknickers (possibly my favourite username ever) am in SE London- so that would be a very long walk indeed!

I signed my dog up as I'm disabled now and can't walk her as much. Before I signed up I had "matches" but not one has replied now I've signed up and messaged. Sure it's a scam.

Fuck that. Not a chance in hell I would use that site, I can’t understand how someone could hand their dog over to a random stranger to walk.

Purpleball · 28/09/2017 23:27

I signed up but didn't feel committed enough to pay.

Goingslowlymad1 · 28/09/2017 23:29

@random - how did you find it? Did you get many dogs to walk (or a regular dog to walk). Aww would love to have a dog again but am in a flat - and although I have a garden it's shared so don't think it's fair on the neighbours (who have cats)

OP posts:
RandomMess · 28/09/2017 23:29

Yeah 2 different dogs but then we moved away.

Goingslowlymad1 · 28/09/2017 23:30

@eifla- that's what I was thinking - but then, people use dog walkers all the time

TheFlis12345 · 28/09/2017 23:30

I know a few people who use it (some borrowing, some lending) in London. One of my colleagues now has a dog they regularly 'borrow', taking it for walks a couple of times a week and having it to stay while the owner is away on business every few weeks.

pancakesfortea · 28/09/2017 23:30

My husband used it to match up with a lovely border terrier who lives around the corner.

Crumbs1 · 28/09/2017 23:31

I'm thinking of joining up to give our beast a bit more running.

Goingslowlymad1 · 28/09/2017 23:35

@professorcat - the same - had matches then the minute I joined - nada! Feel a bit conned

Domino20 · 28/09/2017 23:37

I'm central SE London and a member but people only ever seem to take my dog out once. I really want him to have some company during the day but he never gets a second date ☹

Goingslowlymad1 · 28/09/2017 23:37

Well @crumbs if you're anywhere near me - give me a shout.

OP posts:
Goingslowlymad1 · 28/09/2017 23:39

@domino awwww that's rubbish - pm me if you're still looking (am probably a bit far out I'm guessing but you never know).

My friends husband has terminal cancer, she used it to find someone to walk her dogs. messaged lots of walkers no replies. maybe the messages just don't get passed on. The cinnamon trust have been absolutely amazing though. Maybe contact them if you want to walk a dog.

Goingslowlymad1 · 28/09/2017 23:44

Oh thank you @pananny Id not heard of them before but just looked at the site - what a lovely charity!
