AIBU to think this mum was attention seeking?

I arrived early for the school run today so sat in the car waiting like everyone else.

Well, everyone except a mum, new to the school this year, who got out of her car, opened the boot, took out a hula hoop and started writhing around with it doing some form of exercise/dance. On the pavement.

I mean, WTAF?

Who does that?

What say you Mumsnet? Attention-seeking or mad as a box of frogs?

Very odd

hiyasminitsme · 28/09/2017 22:08

Attention-seeking or mad as a box of frogs

both, surely

boredofmyoldname · 28/09/2017 22:08

Tbh I'm just impressed she has the confidence/ability/energy to hula a hoop in the street before 9am! :o

minesapintofwine · 28/09/2017 22:10

Could she have been doing it for a young child? Though it's far more energy and confidence than I'd have. She may be crackers or just loads of fun or very confident. I'd probably have a giggle and tell other people but live and let live.

CorbynsBumFlannel · 28/09/2017 22:10

I would suspect mental health issues to be frank.

MaudAndOtherPoems · 28/09/2017 22:11

Or recruiting for her exercise class, starting next week in a church hall near you?

ChinaRose · 28/09/2017 22:11

Attention seeking but also probably very fit and healthy. Better than sitting in your car spying tbh.

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 28/09/2017 22:16

I have done similar, (can't hoola hoop to save my life) but with a skipping rope Blush It never occurred to me that people would notice, care or have an opinion.

In my defence I have a very sedentary job and I need to burn energy. Also I couldn't do what you say (sit in a car waiting ). I get very restless waiting and have to do something physical.

lozzylizzy · 28/09/2017 22:18

I'm jealous! I wish I could hula like that - if I could I would do it anywhere too when I were bored!

orangeowls · 28/09/2017 22:19

That’s hilarious, I am in admiration of her energy levels Grin

LinaBo · 28/09/2017 22:21

Maybe she was playing truth or dare with the children in the car? Grin

Madbum · 28/09/2017 22:21

Hahaha how wankily cringey of her

washingmachinefastwash · 28/09/2017 22:22

I wish I had the motivation to do this. I can’t even be arsed picking up the TV remote.

Bluelonerose · 28/09/2017 22:23

Conversation starter??

Ide be dying to ask if she could teach me Grin

EasterRobin · 28/09/2017 22:23

Sounds much more fun than sitting in a car.

GU24Mum · 28/09/2017 22:24

Perhaps she's at home telling her family that even when she hula hooped outside the car at pick-up time no-one spoke to her so how is she ever going to settle in?!?

TansyVioletta · 28/09/2017 22:25

CorbynsBumFlannel Grin

Gazelda · 28/09/2017 22:26

You’ve got to go one better tomorrow. Pull out your hula hoop, then set it on fire! 🔥
Or grab your yoga mat and do some stretches on the pavement.
Or wire up a nespresso to your cigarette lighter and sell coffees to passing parents.

This could be a whole new level of bossing the school run.

isitme88 · 28/09/2017 22:27

Mental health problems. I have experienced this before with a mum at school. I worked there. She had a diagnosed MH problem. She used to do things similar to this

Ninjakittysmells · 28/09/2017 22:28

This is hilarious! I can imagine one of our school mums doing this, please report back on what she does at tomorrow's pick up. Perhaps she has a whole circus routine going culuminating in her jumping through a firey ring to collect her offspring?!

Gemini69 · 28/09/2017 22:29

tomorrow... take a bucket of water... just to clean your windscreen... whilst You wait.. Grin if it 'accidentally' hits said hulahooper... my oh my ooops Hmm

murmuration · 28/09/2017 22:34

Gazelda, I'm now imagining a whole circus-worth of parents trying to outdo each in the AM. It'd be brilliant!

Mittens1969 · 28/09/2017 22:34

Hmmm, quite strange, why would she do it on the pavement?? I'm reluctant to diagnose MH problems on an anonymous forum, but I'm inclined to agree that it's a definite possibility.

Italiangreyhound · 28/09/2017 22:37

Lovely, individual, unique, amazing, she sounds. Why not befriend her.

Ironfloor · 28/09/2017 22:37

Ninjakittysmells - you've made me laugh so hard I've got tears running down my face!
