AIBU to think this mum was attention seeking?

I arrived early for the school run today so sat in the car waiting like everyone else.

Well, everyone except a mum, new to the school this year, who got out of her car, opened the boot, took out a hula hoop and started writhing around with it doing some form of exercise/dance. On the pavement.

I mean, WTAF?

Who does that?

What say you Mumsnet? Attention-seeking or mad as a box of frogs?

Good for her. She isn't harming anyone else is she? I like an eccentric first thing in the morning, before the day has had time to wear away my goodwill.

ReanimatedSGB · 28/09/2017 22:38

FFS you sound narrow minded and joyless. What business is it of yours in the first place? She's not hurting anyone.

ILoveDolly · 28/09/2017 22:39

Whut? Next time, spray her with a super soaker and let the true anarchy commence....

AutumnalLeaves38 · 28/09/2017 22:41

OP,

Was she Grace Jones?

(Who must have core muscles of ruddy steel to do this as well as sing: )

Gemini69 · 28/09/2017 22:44

hhhaaahahaha Grace Jones is a Legend Flowers

BoomBoomsCousin · 28/09/2017 22:44

It's an odd way to attention seek. I would have thought it more likely she just doesn't care what people think and has read some naff article about fitting exercise into your day, or doing childish things to bring joy into your life or some such.

Starlight2345 · 28/09/2017 22:47

Odd beahaviour...I don't eat breakfast before school run..Just build up my caffine levels.

tamepanda · 28/09/2017 22:50

She’s probably just a very busy mum who’s just trying to fit in a bit of extra exercise and doesn’t give a fuck who’s watching.

I’d do something like this, doesn’t mean I have mental health problems or that I’m trying to show off. Just don’t give a fuck what other people think!

Sisinisawa · 28/09/2017 22:51

It was before pick up so 3pm. To be fair there's no signal near the school so no opportunity for Mumsnetting.

She did hold the hoop out for someone else's toddler to walk through. Sharing the erm joy I guess.

Love the idea of taking my yoga mat tomorrow! Hmmm. Headstand or the crow pose? Grin

She does run a hula hoop exercise class so there is some vague context but I still thought it was bloody odd.

And blimey at those accusing me of spying and being joyless. Is this kind of thing normal where you live? Circus acts on every corner?

Oh my god OP I know a woman who does this, it HAS to be the same one, there can't be more than one of them?? She does it literally everywhere she goes, it's mental, and VERY attention seeking! 😂

AutumnalLeaves38 · 28/09/2017 22:58

I agree with PPs: she might just be the most fun, confident Mum (Professional gymnastics coach/ entertainer?).

Or, conversely, if she's a newcomer, maybe this is a last-ditch, desperate attempt at striking up conversation and getting to know other parents...

AutumnalLeaves38 · 28/09/2017 23:01

"She does run a hula hoop exercise class..."

Kind of critical missing info from your 1st post, OP!!

Trollspoopglitter · 28/09/2017 23:02

"She does run a hula hoop exercise class so there is some vague context..."

VAGUE?

pp2017 · 28/09/2017 23:05

I'd say she was drumming up business, for her hula hoop class, pretty entrepreneurial really!!!

SkintAsASkintThing · 28/09/2017 23:06

I know a couple like this.....lovely, lovely people. They work with SN children and adults doing movement and dance therapy........theyre also utterly bonkers and will randomly crack open eye watering movements or burst into song.

I.don't think it's attention seeking in their case, they seem to be genuinely happy to be alive. 😂😂😂

Sisinisawa · 28/09/2017 23:06

Yes vague.
Most people who run classes don't enact them on the school run!

Kitty what letter does the county you live in begin with?

OP posts:
Leilaniii · 28/09/2017 23:07

It depends. Did she look like a fitness freak? Or just a, erm, freak?

Stoic123 · 28/09/2017 23:09

Recruiting for a class she's running- some of the other mums might be interested even if you aren't?

Either way, can't see that she's doing any harm here.

She does run a hula hoop exercise class.

That's some drip feed, OP Grin.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 28/09/2017 23:13

"Most people who run classes don't enact them on the school run!"

Would liven it up if they did, though.

BillBrysonsBeard · 28/09/2017 23:23

I would look and I would laugh but then I'd be thinking "good on her!" I love seeing people stand out from the norm. I bet she just uses these opportunities to promote herself.

AldiDudey · 28/09/2017 23:27

Clutching at straws here, but the medication I take gives me really restless legs. If I sit or stand still for too long I am practically river dancing on the spot.

If I wanted to drum up business for a class I run, maybe I would do this instead. Grin

Ohyesiam · 28/09/2017 23:27

God forbid that someone should stray from predictability.

paxillin · 28/09/2017 23:29

How old are her kids Shock? Mine would have been bursting with pride aged 4, but from 8 would have walked into school wearing a mask. On the other side of the road.
