Sky Q - added here for traffic

Hi all

Wonder if anyone can help me.

Can't get through to sky as they have a training day in their number.

I currently have the full pack, phone, Broad band, box sets and tv pack with sports and movies and multi room in one room. I pay £116 a month.

First question, does anyone else pay less for the same package?

Second question, to upgrade to sky q has anyone done this and any idea what I can expect to pay or do you think I would be better cancelling and getting partner to join for sky q.

Used to pay the same for Sky Q in 2 rooms - then moved to Virgin and managed to negotiate 90/mth for 3 rooms and fibre broadband/phone.

Virgin is a better deal. And their new TiVo box is just as good as Sky Q.
Also their broadband is much faster.

An issue to look out-for: the equivalent to multi-room works quite differently in Sky Q. Essentially there is only one central hard disk, so no matter which TV you watch on, everyone will see everyone else's recordings. Some people don't like this, apparently.

I have just ordered sky q and its getting installed thursday, I have the entertainment package and full sports but not movies, I am also having 3 extra boxes, it is costing £47pm and a one off payment of £120 for the extra 3 boxes.

We have Sky Q in two rooms and I LOVE IT. I have no idea how much we pay but it’s worth every penny so that I can disappear upstairs to bed at 8pm and watch whatever I like whilst DH watches crap downstairs

We pay £113 for full package phone, bb, tv, movies, sport. Everything except box sets. We have Sky Q and it's brilliant for us. Fitted the bill, and does everything we needed. Main box in living room, 2 mini boxes in kids rooms, app on the iPad in the kitchen. everyone can watch what they want, when they want it. We love it.

I absolutely love Sky Q. I didn't have multi room before as I didn't want to have to record things on 2 boxes. The mini box you get with Q is great. It's down to preference though.

I think it costs me an extra £12 a month for it.

If you record a lot it's worth it. My HD box was always filling up and I was frequently deleting stuff I hadn't watched. The Q box memory is so big I'll never come close to filling it. No more recording clashes either as you can record up to 5 channels at once.

If it's a one off payment for Q and you'll never have to pay the monthly fee if jump at it. You'll have got your £115 bavk in 10 months. That's a great deal

No, not at all. I think the poster means that you both have access to recordings/downloads (e.g. you can watch recordings even if they were made downstairs).

DH managed to take them out of the one off charge of £100+ and we got it for £12

You don’t have to watch the same thing in different rooms. That would defeat the object. What is good is that I can start watching something in the living room, then go upstairs and the box in the bedroom knows exactly where I left off.

That's exactly it. From what I've read on forums, some people who used to have multi-room don't like the fact that the list of recordings always shows everything for everyone in the household, rather than just their own stuff.

On the other hand, I suppose if you set a recording in one place but want to watch it in the other, then this is an advantage.

The so-called fluid viewing feature where you start watching in one room and finish a program is a triumph of marketing, as essentially it just a side effect of two things: (1) a Sky box lets you resume a program from where you stopped watching and (2) the recordings (including the data about where you watched up to) are shared between all boxes.

When you are able to speak to them say you are thinking of switching to virgin media and what is their cancellation policy. They should offer you an amazing deal to keep you.

If you stop a program, and press play later, it resumes from where you left off. I don't think this is new, I think Sky HD does the same. What is new is that because the one disk is now shared between multiple rooms, you don't have to resume in the same room.

I recently re-contracted with Sky (Q) and for a one off £10 fee I will make a saving of £428 over 18mths. I literally just asked them if there was any way to reduce my monthly bill. I have 3 boxes in total, the main one and two mini boxes.

We upgraded to SKY Q after having the full multi room package, I paid £100 for the extra mini box and now have Sky Q in three rooms and is £10 cheaper per month than before.

I have Sky Q, I hate it with a passion.

After being with Sky for 10+ years I'm cancelling this month and I can't bloody wait. I wanted to cancel months and months ago but they had tied my into a new 12 month term when I upgraded to sky q so couldn't.

I was told my issues with the work of Satan sky q were down to the broadband (also sky). I was suckered into upgrading to sky fibre. Now the broadband is utterly shit too! It drops every few minutes. I have to wait until January to get rid of it because, guess what? They tied me into a new 12 month fixed term when I upgraded the broadband to fix the TV.

To top it all off, it costs me a fortune to ring them from my mobile because my landline (also Sky) doesn't work since we got sky fibre.

I rang Sky last night as it wasnt working and was told that as I was a VIP (!!) customer (27 years) that I was entitled to a free Sky Q box plus mini box and I paid £99 for a second mini box so I can have Sky upstairs as well. Not being installed until 11 October though. Sky broadband went 12 months ago as it was so crap and I went back to Virgin fibre (also crap but not as crap). Home phone doesn't work ever since

I do love my Sky Q box. It's a seamless viewing experience for me. And I have normal Sky broadband, not fibre.

I use the voice search functionality quite a bit.

My Mum used to go to cancel every time she wanted an upgrade and they would always without fail offer her w better deal.
I would go to cancel and see what they can offer you!
