Hotels and towels

So I'm supposed to be on holiday relaxing but it's the first day of my period so that's not currently happening. I have been having the usual bad cramps and decided to take a shower. Of course I'm in a hotel with bright white towels and I have spotted over them. AIBU not to try and sort this? I'm to tired to care and not sure if really want to try to hand wash the towel anyway.

Just steal the towel and take it home when you leave! They exist to be stolen!

MrLovebucket · 17/09/2017 16:27

Can you just leave it to soak in some cold water and see if that takes out some of the stain?

I wouldn't worry too much, these things happen and I'm sure they've seen it all before.

PurplePillowCase · 17/09/2017 16:28

just leave them, blood on towels happens and the hotel's laundry service will deal with them.

Papafran · 17/09/2017 16:29

I would put it in cold water and leave it. Or bin it if the stain doesn't come out. I would not bother had washing it.

IHaveBrilloHair · 17/09/2017 16:29

They honestly won't check or even care, just put it for washing.

FeckTheMagicDragon · 17/09/2017 16:29

oh don't steal it - you might find a charge on your hotel bill. Seriously it's not a big deal - put it in the tub to be collected by housekeeping. They don't inspect, just bundle them all up and throw them in the laundry.

Yerroblemom1923 · 17/09/2017 16:31

I'd soak it in water. It would be polite to let the housekeeping staff know about it to ensure they're wearing gloves when they change the towels. Not all of them may think to do so otherwise.

Viviennemary · 17/09/2017 16:31

I'd try with some cold water. Should improve things. Binnir stealing isn't a good idea even though it might seem tempting.

Peachypeaches · 17/09/2017 16:31

Just bundle it up with other towels and leave in the bath/shower tray. They'll just pick them up in one big bundle and put them in the laundry trolley.

AnotherGreenDot · 17/09/2017 16:31

Op hope you're feeling better. Don't worry, hotel towels must washed in bleach to keep them whilte! Just leave them in the bath so they get replaced asap. As s previous poster suggested, you could soak them overnight to get the worst of the stains out.

RoganJosh · 17/09/2017 16:33

Just bundle it up at the end. I'm sure the pretty much bleach wash it all. There's a reason hotel bedding and towels are white.

ProseccoMamam · 17/09/2017 16:34

You say it like nobody can know grown women have periods. GrinWomen bleed, it gets on stuff, the hotel has washing machines and cleaning staff. Considering they work in a hotel, they've cleaned up worse things than blood believe meSmile get dressed and go and chill with a nice glass of fizz x

WannabeMathematician · 17/09/2017 16:34

Cool I think I will fold it such they don't have to touch it. It's not a lot, one or two drops but it is noticeable.

I wouldn't steal the towel. That isn't something that had occurred to me.

allthingsred · 17/09/2017 16:36

I work in a hotel.
As above just bundle it up with other towels they just get chucked in linen bag then sent away for cleaning

purplecorkheart · 17/09/2017 16:39

Wet the spot and rub handsoap on it or shower gel. It will remove the worse k
of the stain then just bundle it in the tub.

brasty · 17/09/2017 16:44

They are very used to this. I have bled on hotel sheets overnight. Can't always be avoided.

Aquamarine1029 · 17/09/2017 16:44

Don't even worry about it. They get put in an industrial washer with a ton of bleach.

NotTheFordType · 17/09/2017 16:45

If you don't want to leave it in the room, try to find one of the maids tomorrow morning during cleaning time and just take out all of your towels to her and say "We don't need a room clean today, can I just get fresh towels? Sorry these are a bit dirty." They should swap them over for you no problem. Don't forget to offer a tip ;)

But honestly they are used to all sorts of much worse stains, if you just leave the towels in a pile on the bathroom floor they will take them away and shove them in the laundry without even looking. They're on way too tight of a schedule to inspect towels and bedding!

Branleuse · 17/09/2017 16:48

dont worry about it. Just leave it with the other towels. They wont be judging you, they wont see it, and they wont care if they did.

You got a bit of blood on a towel. It happens. Its not like youve smeared shit up their wall

AnnieAnoniMouse · 17/09/2017 16:51

I'm sorry you've ended up with your period while on holiday, sodding typical isn't it.

But honestly, don't worry about it. Just fold it so they don't have to see it & leave it in the bath/on the floor with the others. The state some hotel rooms are left in, this is less than nothing. Don't wash it.

chemenger · 17/09/2017 16:51

Do you think that every man who cuts himself shaving and gets blood on a hotel towel thinks twice before chucking it in bath to get washed? If you feel you must wash the spots out with cold water and soap, otherwise just forget it.

BahHumbygge · 17/09/2017 16:52

Run the spot under the cold tap for a few moments. Then rub with some soap, rinse again with cold water, put in a bundle for room service to collect on their next round. Don't use hot as it'll set the stain. Nothing else to worry about, it'll all come out fully in the industrial washers they have.

RB68 · 17/09/2017 16:55

Hotel washing goes to a laundry and the wash is super hot meant to deal with all sorts of stains, they are also sanitised

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 17/09/2017 16:57

Just leave it to be changed when they do the room change. Most hotels now say if you want clean towels put them in the bath, if not hang them up. The cleaners don't inspect individual towels.

wonkylegs · 17/09/2017 16:59

As others have already said don't worry about it. It's a fact of life you won't be the first or last for this to happen to at their hotel.

The only time I felt bad was when we were staying at a villa and DS fell out of bed and cracked his head open on the tiled floor. We used clean white towels to apply pressure. We had to take him to a&e and get stitches.
When we returned I looked around and his room looked like a crime scene, multiple blood soaked towels and sheets. I offered to pay for them but they were awesome about it and refused to take anything. We left a fab review & a bottle of wine.
