Night out and weight gain

Sandsunsea · 15/09/2017 21:50

I have a night out with old friends coming up. I am huge and have no clothes. I have gained so much weight, especially around my middle. I need advice on what clothes to wear to stop me feeling disgusting so I actually go and don't make excuses so I can hide at home. Please help!

Have a look on lindy bop, their style of dress hide a multitude of sins

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 15/09/2017 21:55

What size are you wearing? Do you have a budget?

I was pleasantly surprised at the clothes in M&Co for my holiday recently!

Otherwise, my new favourite online shop is Lindy Bop. Gorgeous frocks, great value. I'm a size 20-22 if that helps.

ThymeLordIsSpartacus · 15/09/2017 21:56

Black leggings/jeggings, a floaty cami and a fitted blazer. Killer heels and sparkly jewellery. River Island have some really nice floaty style strappy camis that skim the tummy area well.

Sandsunsea · 15/09/2017 21:57

I'm 16-18. I have tried Lindy bop but to be honest I feel like the style just isn't me. I am 42 so want a more grown up style.

Another vote for Lindy bop! Carolina dress room have some great frocks too, I like to buy all their Disney dresses 😁

Agree with thyme

Sandsunsea · 15/09/2017 21:59

Thanks thyme, il check out river island. Cami/ blazer combination might be what I'm looking for

I was a size 22 this time last year and every night out I wore black jeggings, a cami and a blazer! It's a pretty forgiving look, and you're nowhere near as big as I was!

I know a lot of people on here think Asda clothing is cheap tat but I've got loads of their cami vests and they look good! This sparkly one would be great under a fitted blazer.

Can't go wrong for the price xxx

ItsAllAboutThePace · 15/09/2017 22:13

I had never heard of 'Lindy bop' so I just had a look!!

Err I don't quite know why that's been recommended to you

Birdsgottafly · 15/09/2017 22:16

I'm 49 and refused to buy clothes for my size (I'm on steroids/disabled), but I was invited out by my DDs and have stated buying from Newlook Curves and Simply Be. Look through the Curve ranges, they are cut for fat people and accept that you've got to buy the size that you need.

Ollivander84 · 15/09/2017 22:18

Asos curve usually has good stuff

1wokeuplikethis · 15/09/2017 22:30

Have a look at Joanie, lots of lovely things in there. It's a bit retro but I like that.

Sandsunsea · 15/09/2017 23:14

Thanks for the help everyone Wine

Er why?

PickAChew · 15/09/2017 23:36

Lindy hop is the stereotypical recommendation for larger women on here. I can see the attraction but personally wouldn't be seen dead in it. The only dresses I own are short enough to wear with leggings!

FreshSet · 15/09/2017 23:42

i shop in new look curves, yours clothing and simply be. you are nowhere near as big as me and my go to outfit is tunic and leggings or jeggings and floaty tops. I practically live in long tops that are like short dresses and leggings

kali110 · 15/09/2017 23:42

They go from size 8. I love their dresses, i have an hourglass figure.

ThoseCowsAreFarAway · 16/09/2017 07:47

I know the standard recommendation for bigger ladies is floaty tops and leggings. But what about those with ugly legs? I never wear leggings as my legs are really wide and I have varicose veins which I'm conscious might be visible through thinner fabric. I usually wear jeans with nice top. But would love other ideas...

Sandsunsea · 16/09/2017 07:49

Where do you buy jeans from thosecows? I struggle to find good jeans, especially as I have a really huge middle.

I'd recommend sizing up in Joanie, I find they come up small. I have recommended this loads, but search out fullerfigurefullerbust on Instagram and she wears lots of different styles so you get an idea of how things you might never have considered actually look like in you.

Well fitting, supportive underwear changes your shape completely- nothing will look good if you don't get that right.

I wear some Lindy Bop, some Joanie, Collectif, Hell Bunny, Scarlett & Jo, Asos Curve; I like to try lots of different styles. You don't have to stick to a uniform!

The FB group Fuller Figure Fuller Wardrobe is also great; lots of plus size clothes for sale and a range of styles plus outfit inspiration.

GingerLemonTea · 16/09/2017 08:05

Nice top from RI

Mooey89 · 16/09/2017 08:06

Scarlet and jo is your best friend.
Their dresses are so flattering.

Disn3yN3rd · 16/09/2017 08:10

I have awful legs too so would love other ideas.
