To not let the builders in tomorrow!!!

HiJenny35 · 04/09/2017 17:56

So today was the first day of 6 weeks of building work we are having done.
The builders turned up at 8am and one who I hadn't met knocked on the door. He asked if he could borrow the loo. Obviously I said yes.
He did the most stinky poo I have ever known, it was sick, I was gagging, I had half a container of air freshener and I used it ALL and it didn't help, I even bleached the toilet to limit the smell but that didn't help. Now I can't open the windows more than a crack as there's scaffolding outside the windows. Now I'm not bad with smells but this was BAAAADDDDD!
Aibu to...
just lock all the doors, shut all the curtains and never let them in again living forever more with the scaffolding up?

Oh fgs not this again. Did you pay for portaloo facilities for the duration of the work? If not, where do you expect them to go to the toilet?

AmysTiara · 04/09/2017 18:04

What a good idea. Yes definitely do this. Not sure how you'll get the building work done but at least your house will smell nice. Wink

HiJenny35 · 04/09/2017 18:10

Geillis only light hearted, no need to be such an old witch about it, I'm obviously not really going to refuse him entry. No problem with them using the loo at all However a bit of bleach, spraying the fresh air spray, opening the window, any of the above would have been nice. Really was very grim!

Either pay for a portaloo for them or put up with it.

Boatmistress17 · 04/09/2017 18:17

Give him a bottle of V I poo to keep in his back pocket. .

YellowLawn · 04/09/2017 18:21

candles.
this is where great aunts christmas gift of a tea light glass decorated with yellow lace comes in.
if you can leave it burning in a safe corner in the bathroom, that will take care of some of the smelly gases.

Idontevencareanymore · 04/09/2017 18:21

You need poo pourri and spray that bad boy down there when you spot then arrive.

MissionItsPossible · 04/09/2017 18:22

YANBU. Inform them they need to use alternative toilets from now on and you'll pay the additional cost for the extra time it takes.

ClaudiaWankleman · 04/09/2017 18:22

Why is it only workmen do smelly poos?

I get so fed up with things like this - as if builders/ plumbers/ electricians/ decorators shouldn't be treated like every other human and allowed to use the toilet. As if the OP doesn't ever do a shit that makes someone's eyes water (I guarantee they do).

ChicRock · 04/09/2017 18:24

If don't let them in again, they'll probably shit in the foundations of your new extension, or in your garden.

HiJenny35 · 04/09/2017 18:27

Proplapsingallover what exactly is that meant to mean, what part of my tread is troll?

Only let them if they specifically ask for permission to use the loo AND specify 1 or 2.

Only polite thing apparently

Don't use a posh scented candle, apparently they get stolen by workmen.

TallulahBetty · 04/09/2017 18:34

This, again? At least be original.

HiJenny35 · 04/09/2017 18:35

Who said only those people did smelly poos? What on earth are you talking about? Didn't I suggest they shouldn't be treated like other people? Its clearly just a lighthearted post. Maybe you need a cup of tea and to chill out. So if you did a stinky pop in someone's house you wouldn't open the window, spray the fresh air spray or make any effort? Nice!

Sorry OP, I think you're going to have to suck it up. As a previous poster said, they do have to go! Maybe you can provide a litter for them in the garden. Grin

KoolKoala07 · 04/09/2017 18:37

Yanbu. Baricade the door and shout through the letterbox that next time he will have to go in your flower beds.

Anasnake · 04/09/2017 18:40

This story again ??!!!

HiJenny35 · 04/09/2017 18:40

Ah thanks for explaining that, to be honest I can't say I've notices many pop threads before and I've certainly not experienced this with builder before. I'll get the thing you stick in the loo and see if that helps. Just to reassure those of you worried about the validity here's a photo of the windo with the scaffolding.

Wasn't there a thread exactly about this a few weeks ago?Confused

HiJenny35 · 04/09/2017 18:45

Sorry it wasn't showing so I didn't realise it had posted!
I know there's nothing to be done, I just thought I'd get some funny nightmare stories back to be honest. Stuck in the house all day as I have various trades coming and going so just wanted some amusing banter, wasn't expecting it to be such a miserable post!
Thank those who have been lighthearted and given some great advice. Will be stocking up in Tescos this evening!

Maybe he can go in that yellow saucepan.

Or as previously suggested, provide a litter in the garden, or get a cat to train them how to shit in the flower beds and hide it.
