My neighbour seems to remodel her house every few month, her DP is always doing DIY. It had cost then 4 thousands up till this point.
Shelves up, stair rails changed, Lastest colours.
This summer she knocked the wall out downstairs so her house is open plan.
She then spent thousands painting it and doing it up.
They wanted too sell the house and thought this would raise the value, as they have no equity, she let me see and yes it does look nice, but the Estate Agent has just been round and told her mine is worth the same as hers, I have never seen a woman have such a melt down before.

Why is it amusing to you?

Do you enjoy revelling in someone else's misfortune?

My friend spent thousands renovating her new home and due to house prices falling in her area her house is now worth less than she bought it for, she was devastated.

Does this amuse you?

chickenowner · 03/09/2017 15:48

How unpleasant of you.

Maybe they want to move because of their nasty, sneering neighbours.

Namechangetempissue · 03/09/2017 15:49

Do you hate them then? I think that's quote sad for her!

Namechangetempissue · 03/09/2017 15:49

Quote -quite

HarrietKettleWasHere · 03/09/2017 15:49

How strange to be amused!

WhatInTheWorldIsGoingOn · 03/09/2017 15:50

What a strange thing to find amusing. How did you see her have a meltdown?

RhubardGin · 03/09/2017 15:51

Is this going to be a massive drip feed about how your neighbour is a massive bitch/slept with your DH/ran over you cat?

I honestly can't understand why this would humour you.

RitaMills · 03/09/2017 15:51

Unless there is a backstory that they are deeply unpleasant people who once kicked your cat then I really can't see why that is amusing, it's actually not very nice of you.

backOffSunshine · 03/09/2017 15:51

Why are you so happy with someone's misery?

Do you want to unburden yourself? We're a caring bunch here and can talk you through whatever's so clearly lacking in your life.

Marinade · 03/09/2017 15:51

Really mean spirited of you actually and there is nothing amusing about it whatsoever. Imagine if it had been you and someone found your understandable distress funny? What is wrong with people!

BenLui · 03/09/2017 15:52

That's quite an unpleasant post.

Witsender · 03/09/2017 15:53

Why would you be amused?

happypoobum · 03/09/2017 15:53

How does the EA know what your house looks like? Did he/she value yours at the same time? Confused

You sound really jealous and there's something a bit off about your story......

PuppyMonkey · 03/09/2017 15:53

Yeah but her house is no doubt much nicer than yours now and will probably sell much quicker so...

chickenowner · 03/09/2017 15:54

I wonder if the OP will be back?

PurpleDaisies · 03/09/2017 15:54
Wine
PurpleDaisies · 03/09/2017 15:55
Hmm
mummmy2017 · 03/09/2017 15:55

I have put up with years of their DIY, even her mother told her there is a price ceiling around here, but still she went ahead with it... So sort of think this is self inflicted.

OP posts:
DrWhooves · 03/09/2017 15:56

I found this out the hard way too, I thought new bathroom, windows and boiler would have added a good chunk of value to the house when we came to sell but apparently not. I didn't have a screaming me!tdown but I was quietly pissed off.

RhubardGin · 03/09/2017 16:00

OP you are either a complete bitch or a troll, which one?

mummmy2017 · 03/09/2017 16:02

DrWhoove, I really do think your improvements were needed, but this is every 4 weeks come payday, something requiring drilling, or banging has done, sometimes you couldn't even see anything had been done.

OP posts:
HarrietKettleWasHere · 03/09/2017 16:03

Well why would you see anything has been done?

It's not your house, what were you doing, peering through the windows to see?Confused

BenLui · 03/09/2017 16:04

You've had to "put up with" the diy?

But doing things to upgrade and maintain your house is normal Even if you aren't planning to sell.

It's pretty mean to find it entertaining.

mummmy2017 · 03/09/2017 16:04

RhubardGin you will never know how hard it was to sometimes not bang on the door and say for goodsake stop the DIY.
It comes straight through the walls, all the time.
I have had to go out sometimes just too get away from the noise of it.

OP posts:
chickenowner · 03/09/2017 16:05

How can you possibly know that DrWhoove's improvements were needed but your neighbour's were not?

You are just twisting and interpreting things to suit you.

And you sound really nasty and smug.
