Long term poster but have name changed as this will out me...
I'm currently on a residential course for work and I'm staying in the student halls of res. When I arrived there were about a dozen wasps on the window. I freaked a bit at this but a colleague kindly helped me to exit them and I bought some spray and liberally blasted my room. Since then I've had the odd one or two (or three) but I've kept my cool and continued to spray the room.
Anyhoo, here I am at 3.30am I've just had to deal with another bastard wasp in my room. I have no clue how they're getting in but I just want to go home (which I do anyway tomorrow).
I'm hoping MN will tell me AINBU and support me through the remainder of tonight as the odds of me getting any more sleep are non-existent...

Just heard buzzing right by the headboard of my bed now. This is really not funny...

BigFatGoalie · 31/08/2017 03:56

I have nothing useful to say except bastard wasps!! 😡

Waspyhell · 31/08/2017 03:58

They are total bastards. I'm now sitting in the v uncomfortable chair wondering how early is too early to have a shower and call it done for the night.

LeakyLittleBoat · 31/08/2017 04:03

That's appalling. Sounds like there's a nest somewhere in the room - why did you not ask to be moved to another room earlier? Ask now so at least you can get a couple of hours sleep. Surely there's a concierge or night porter or someone in charge who can help.

Waspyhell · 31/08/2017 04:08

I'm thinking about doing just that. I assumed that they'd come in through an open window so kept it firmly shut. Blamed the extras on the cleaners opening the window then the fuckers hiding from me...
I can still hear one buzzing under where my pillow is. The bed's sort of built in and I've got a really sickening feeling that it's under there.
I can't be arsed to ring over to reception now- I'd have to pack up all my crap and probably walk miles to another room. I'll not sleep when I get there now anyway...

The room absolutely reaks of wasp spray too...

That's awful, could you go home early? How early can you get breakfast?

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 31/08/2017 04:14

I freaked out earlier and there was only one! How awful for you. You're braver than I would be

Waspyhell · 31/08/2017 04:17

I'm not brave at all! Totally stressing about it. Breakfast from 7.30 and I'm here with colleagues who will be fast asleep so no option there.
I've just phoned reception who say there is another room on the other side of the campus! Not worth packing up and relocating (given that I'm in my pjs still) for an hour or so.

Waspyhell · 31/08/2017 04:18

I'm just kicking myself for convincing myself that they flew in the bloody window. I should have moved straight away!

Many moons (good choice of word as you will discover very soon) ago when DS was a baby, we lived in a lovely apartment with just one bathroom. I desperately needed a poo, but DS had taken forever to settle. Anyway, finally managed to slip away and headed straight to the loo - only to find a HUGE BUZZY HAIRY BEE swarming about the place. I stifled a scream (yes, seriously Blush)so as not to wake the baby and ran out of the bathroom, pulling the door shut. I really was SO VERY desperate by this time and resorted to squatting over one of DS' nappies... true story!

Waspyhell · 31/08/2017 04:38

I honestly don't blame you Twinkle...
I'm just sitting here listening out for shitty buzzing noises. I'm aiming for 6am then 'getting up' officially.

That's awful. Bloody wasps! I really feel for you. Hope you are doing okay. Flowers Wine

Waspyhell · 31/08/2017 04:47

Still sitting on my faithful chair listening to the snoring of others through the paper thin walls!! I'm going to be out of this room in just over two hours. The thought of that is getting me through!!

fullofhope03 · 31/08/2017 04:56

Oh Waspy - this is horredous! I really feel for you Sad Is there a coffee/tea machine and somewhere to sit that you could go to now?
Flowers Brew xx

PollytheDolly · 31/08/2017 04:56

That's awful. What are your plans today? Go straight home and go to bed? Hope you haven't got a full day on. Nothing worse than a sleepless, stressful night.

Waspyhell · 31/08/2017 04:59

We have training until 4pm then heading home. My colleague is driving though so I can sleep in the car and my dh has been fully briefed so will have a nice meal and some sympathy waiting I'm sure!!

The halls have kitchens but they're locked- guessing they've been cleaned ready for students and they don't want us messing them up!!

sprinklesofweirdness · 31/08/2017 05:03

Hi Waspy, just woken up wide awake, but need to be up at 6 anyway, I can sit through with you

Waspyhell · 31/08/2017 05:04

Oh bless you Sprinkles. Flowers

OP posts:
fullofhope03 · 31/08/2017 05:04

The cheek! (re the locked kitchens). Still, it's good to hear your lovely husband will be there to comfort you when you get home [to a wasp free haven Smile ] xx

Waspyhell · 31/08/2017 05:06

I know. Can't bloody wait. I pity the poor student who's going to be moving into this room in a couple of weeks.

OP posts:
fullofhope03 · 31/08/2017 05:06

Ah, Sprinkles you're lovely! Flowers

Flashinggreen · 31/08/2017 05:06

That's awful. The buzzing alone would keep me awake.

fullofhope03 · 31/08/2017 05:08

It's a disgrace Angry Hopefully when you report it they will sort it out properly.
