Fully prepared to be told Iabu but I'm a bit no, actually I'm a lot Hmm.

DP and I have a lovely relationship, no problems at all etc. I've given up smoking, it'll be 2 weeks tomorrow and it's going well so far. As with everything I do DP is very supportive. I was the only smoker in the house.

Anyways, today we both happened to have a day off, I had things I wanted to get on with and DP went out for a few hours. When he came home he started telling me about some bits and pieces he'd bought while he was out and then he pulls out a bloody pipe. A Sherlock Holmes feckin pipe.
He then popped into the garden and proceeded to smoke the bastard thing. Ffs sake.

Now, I'm as easy going and laid back as your average Pagan hippy but is it me or is that a) a feckin bizarre thing to take up and b) bloody insensitive given I'm trying my hardest to quit a stupid addiction which he has always worried about regarding my health.

AIBU or has he lost the bloody plot?

Ummm... Why has he bought a pipe? Has he ever smoked one before? If not, I'd say YANBU to be annoyed that he started now.

amazonEcho · 24/08/2017 20:37

so, you have smoked for god knows how long and are angry that your DH has tired it?

Yorkshirebetty · 24/08/2017 20:37

Oh dear. What on earth has prompted that? Has he also purchased a deer stalker and a violin?

Leeds2 · 24/08/2017 20:39

Sounds a very odd thing to purchase, if he wasn't previously a pipe smoker.

ScissorBow · 24/08/2017 20:41

What a knob. YANBU! What a strange habit to take up when you're quitting!

ForeverLivingMyArse · 24/08/2017 20:41

Totally wtf!!

Who just starts smoking a pipe?

MaidenMotherCrone · 24/08/2017 20:42

@amazonEcho he smoked years ago before I met him. If he started again I'd find it a bit odd but certainly wouldn't berate him. A pipe though, it's just bizarre.

ForeverLivingMyArse · 24/08/2017 20:42

Was it weed?

In a weird way that's less wtf than a tobacco pipe to me - I don't know why!

PossibiliTea · 24/08/2017 20:44

100% wtf

MaidenMotherCrone · 24/08/2017 20:44

No weed involved, that wouldn't bother me I'm just flummoxed.

Hassled · 24/08/2017 20:45

The tactlessness and unhelpfulness aside, there's something about any man under 60 smoking a pipe that just makes them look like a twat. Does he have dodgy facial hair as well?

Photomummy16 · 24/08/2017 20:45

A pipe? That's hilarious! Tell him the people of the internet are mocking and judging him. Wink

BackieJerkhart · 24/08/2017 20:46

Is he training a moustache too? Grin

MaidenMotherCrone · 24/08/2017 20:46

Well he does have a magnificent beard which I'm rather fond of.

2017SoFarSoGood · 24/08/2017 20:47

utterly WTF. Ridiculous.

Is he a hipster or a hipster wannabe? See a fair number of them with pipes. They all look just as ridiculous.

DearMrDilkington · 24/08/2017 20:47

Cam we see a photo of the pipe?

BackieJerkhart · 24/08/2017 20:48

There is only one man who can pull off a pipe IMO and he is just the most cuddliest Granda-man ever who brought me and my sister so much joy as children. (Not our granda but like one to us) No-one else suits a pipe but him. Tell your DH. He has missed that boat.

MaidenMotherCrone · 24/08/2017 20:50

He's not the sort to be arsed what others think tbh. I actually like that but that pipe is just freaking me out.

He's definitely not a hipster, more Viking really. A Viking with a bloody pipe.

OP posts:
MaidenMotherCrone · 24/08/2017 20:51

I'm off to see where he's stashed the offending thing. Hang on.

CakeNinja · 24/08/2017 20:53

Whaaaat?! Neither U or R but it's just plain odd as he wasn't a smoker any longer!
I gave up nearly a year ago with the help of an ecig which I'm slowly weaning myself off, but dp still has the occasional rollie. Doesn't bother me at all but then he's always smoked in small doses (once a fortnight or so) - funnily enough he's always spoken about getting himself a pipe!

BackieJerkhart · 24/08/2017 20:54

Fill it with washing up liquid and make him blow bubbles Grin

MaidenMotherCrone · 24/08/2017 20:56

Feckin thing

Is it me or this a bit wtf?

iamyourequal · 24/08/2017 20:58

I think you should tell him he is being an unsupportive insensitive arse. Please don't be tempted to give in now. Sounds like you are doing great. It reminds me of being a pudgy teenager. The only ever time my mum brought doughnuts home for us was the week I started to diet.

LadyLapsang · 24/08/2017 21:02

YANBU
