Gilmore Girls?

I've broken my leg and binge watched GG.

Rory is 19 and and Lorelei hears her say she's still a virgin and say "I have the good kid."

She also asks that Rory tell her before she decides to have sex. She's 19.

Is that weird?

Why would her having sex make her a bad kid? She was in a long term relationship where they both loved each other.

I think Lorelai is more fixated than normal on Rory holding onto her virginity because of the fact that she got pregnant at 16. She doesn't want Rory to be like her.

But yeah her boundaries are sometimes a bit off as well.

I just started watching from the start again yesterday. I think it's my 8th time Blush.

QueenNefertitty · 19/08/2017 10:38

if you think that's weird, wait til you get to the last few series.

It goes mental.

MumBod · 19/08/2017 10:44

I gave up on it when I realised that Lorelei is a twat.

It was the Go-Gos tickets that finished me off.

Twat.

MumBod · 19/08/2017 10:44

Or was it Bangles? One of them, anyway.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 19/08/2017 10:46

Lorelai needs a smack. Didn't stop me watching it, of course.

EdgeoftheDesert · 19/08/2017 10:47

Well I've just seen an episode now where Lane is shocked there's beer at a party.

I have seen some later episode.

You mean where she gave the 4 tickets to Rory, Paris and the other 2 friends?

ThePinkOcelot · 19/08/2017 10:48

God I hate Gilmore Girls! Once was enough for me when dds were watching it.

QueenNefertitty · 19/08/2017 10:50

When Rory goes to college, shit gets weirder.

Ah!!! Just remembered I had a dream I was married to Luke last night!!!

If only!

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 19/08/2017 10:52

Omg is this still on, it reminds me of time I was depressed and would watch it still in my pjs.

SeekingSugar · 19/08/2017 10:53

It's so freaking sexist and everything else-ist, Luke is always angry, and all of them talk too much.

EdgeoftheDesert · 19/08/2017 10:56

It's on Netflix.

I know Rory lives with her grandparents at some point.

Yes Lorelai was a dick, especially with all the men she fucked over.

QueenNefertitty · 19/08/2017 10:58

Ohhhh try and watch the revival episodes. Rory is VILE. It's hilarious.

geekone · 19/08/2017 11:05

I love it! I binged and it has so many problems but still awesome. You need to listen to Gilmore Guys on iTunes or other podcast sites they are really analytical about it but still being fair and generally good to the show. I am on season 7 of Gilmore Guys but have watched the whole series and the year in the life. Last night I watched the new ASP pilot "the marvellous mrs Maibel" it is good too.
But yes very flawed, still addictive, Luke was a fox in his day Wink

MumBod · 19/08/2017 11:58

EdgeoftheDesert Yup.

They were Sookie's bloody tickets! And she gave them away without asking! And poor Sookie ended up stuck in the gods, while Rory sat with three girls she didn't even like!

So - teaching Rory to buy friendship, while taking advantage of her own friend's good nature.

Twat.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 19/08/2017 12:02

"I've got the good kid" ahahahah. Rory is a massive dick, she turns out to be a pretty appalling person.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 19/08/2017 12:03

I have a theory about the new episodes in relation to the old ones but don't want to spoil anything.

InfiniteSheldon · 19/08/2017 12:06

I love but Lorelei is a test Rory is a spoilt test but Luke is gorgeous Sookue is very funny and I love love the the grandparents

Ktown · 19/08/2017 12:07

I love it. The point is they are all flawed characters, and (apart from looks) are not Hollywood film perfect goodies.

QueenNefertitty · 19/08/2017 12:27

Amy whatsherface left before the end of the show- its apparent from the character development and slower pace of script when that is.

Still love it though- I do wish they wouldn't eat so much junk and stay SO thin (as if that were the biggest problem with realism in the series Hmm)

eatabagofdicks · 19/08/2017 12:37

I loved most of the serious. Where shit got annoying for me was when Rory went to college and dated Logan. She became so conceited. Then the rival! My god she grew into an awful person. Still hung up on Logan, no success in her career despite her supposed brilliance, a complete scatterbrain. The whole thing was odd.

WWYD17 · 19/08/2017 12:40

I hate the relationship Rory had with Logan Sad

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 19/08/2017 12:43

A lot of shitty stuff Rory did happened long before Amy left the show. The Dean stuff in season 4/5, the boat etc.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 19/08/2017 12:48

Poss spoiler in my post*
So scroll through (I'll put it in italics to hide)

My theory is the original episodes are the book Rory writes in the revival. Which is why all of the characters really love Rory despite her awful behaviour. Why they throw parties for her and the entire town fawns over her. She is painted as poor Rory even when she has affairs and steals boats for no reason. Her crap behaviour isn't as excused in the revival because it is "real life" rather than her glossy, sentimental views.

MidnightAura · 19/08/2017 12:57

I've just started watching this, lorelai I think would be the mother in law from hell!
