Gilmore Girls?

I've broken my leg and binge watched GG.

Rory is 19 and and Lorelei hears her say she's still a virgin and say "I have the good kid."

She also asks that Rory tell her before she decides to have sex. She's 19.

Is that weird?

Why would her having sex make her a bad kid? She was in a long term relationship where they both loved each other.

Gosh, Kiera I like your idea. As soon as they mentioned Rory writing a book my ears pricked up and I wondered how they would fit it in but, yes, a retrofit would be perfect. Genius. Id watch it all again if the published this....

I love the gilmore girls but Rory does turn into a massive dick.

Spoiler alert

I think the last four words thing fucked up the revival a bit because they were always intended to be the ending. So it should have been an early 20's Rory being mum not a thirty something Rory. Because they were so fixated on the four words they had to create a thirty something Rory where being pregnant was a shock.

Unless it was never originally her who was meant to say the words and it was meant to be Lorelai telling Emily.

I would have liked the revival to have very little drama (lorelai suddenly wanting to discuss more children in her mid 50's?!) Just seeing them living their normal lives and catching up on all the townspeople.

Possible spoilers ahead...

Kiera, that is a really interesting idea. I watched Gilmore Girls with my partner and neither of us could understand the Rory adoration and the unlikely successes (Harvard, Yale and Princeton... Really?). We felt it was actually a really original story in that she was basically made to completely fall off her pedestal. She was bland, overindulged, overrated and was sucked into her grandparents' lifestyle where she could rely on their wealth and her name, as opposed to Lorelai who cast it all off and worked her way up. It was really interesting to see this supposed high flyer end up as a bit of a bum.

OMG @keira - that is an EXCELLENT theory.

Very Dallas. I LIKE it.

Lorelai's so weird about Rory's relationships. She doesn't want her to get pregnant or settle down young, she wants her to go to college and live this big life. Great. However she also loves Dean and encourages that relationship in a really overbearing way, even though Dean couldn't be clearer about being a guy who just wants to settle down young and have a simple life in Stars Hollow. How exactly did she think that was going to work out?

littlemisssweetness · 19/08/2017 16:41

@OhDearToby I agree that a younger Rory would of worked better, however I also like the fact that it was done how it was with the characters being the same ages they would of been if it had never ended
