Only my bag didn't arrive now trying to shop in 40c heat for a swimsuit at least and sandals as I travelled in jeans and trainers. Have a mum body massive boobs and just ready to give up crying alone left DH and DC in pool at hotel so fed up.

You poor thing op! Sorry this has happened to you. Speak to reception see if they can point you in the right direction?

ChasedByBees · 18/08/2017 15:40

That's rubbish. :( this page recommends a couple of stores:

Could your concierge help?

bitsheepish · 18/08/2017 15:41

Already tried wandering streets and with stores telling me non it's winter collection or feeling like an elephant (in size 14 not 40) just burst into tears onto pavement.

Constantlurker · 18/08/2017 15:41

You poor thing what a nightmare!
Might not be possible but could you do an amazon prime job and get it sent next day to your hotel? You might have more choice then? Or check if stores like ASOS/Simply Be etc do international next day delivery? I've sent stuff to a hotel reception before for work and just put the room number and name on it. Came through fine.

Whatever happens I hope you can get some stuff and enjoy the rest of your holiday. Good luck!

bitsheepish · 18/08/2017 15:42

Going to try suggestions thank you... getting big girl pants on

"Could your concierge help?" Is probably the most middle class thing I've ever typed. But effectively I mean ask reception too.

sunnyeyes · 18/08/2017 15:42

Can you travel a bit? This happened to a friend and she used these. Think promod was best

What has the airport said about your bag?

Can the hotel advise on where to get what you need?

LorLorr2 · 18/08/2017 15:42

Argh! Really hope your bag gets to you asap. The heat doesn't mix well with frustration either does it, I wouldn't shop midday when it's boiling, try tomorrow morning or have a look in the shop windows in the evenings. How long will you be there for?

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/08/2017 15:44

I had to deal with this shit in Venice. It will be OK. We treated it like an adventure challenge that our family had to get through. DD was happy as Larry because she wore the same clothes for three days 🤢

There is fairly good customer service in 'proper' shops so if you can find a proper shop with actual staff that deals with mainly Italian women, you should be alright.

God. How awful Sad. Speak to the hotel reception staff. They should help you. Do you know if your bag has been located and will arrive?

VisitorFromAlphaStation · 18/08/2017 15:45

A bikini and a t-shirt and a pair of shorts?

PippaPug · 18/08/2017 15:45

Doesn't help now but next time spare outfit in hand luggage and swim suit so this doesn't happen again and can you look online for next day delivery?

Catzpyjamas · 18/08/2017 15:45

Are you within walking distance of Via dei Calzaioli which runs from the Duomo to Piazza della Signoria ? That's where the main clothing brands seem to have their stores. There's a Coin department store there (and its air conditioned).

ShitOrBust · 18/08/2017 15:47

had this happen in Barcelona. Learnt the hard way and now always pack a few essentials in my hand luggage. My bags arrived the next day. It was shit. Flowers

Allthebestnamesareused · 18/08/2017 15:51

As a family of 3 I pack one third of everyone's luggage in each case. One suitcase went awol for 5 days when we were in Thailand at Christmas but we all had some of our own clothes. Unfortunately all the sun cream was in that bag.

It is a pain but worth remembering for next time.

Quite often the airport is a good place for buying swimsuits when they aren't in stock elsewhere so it may be worth a trip back there. However I assume that as you are on a city break this is not as essential as if you were on a beach hol.

made me Grin.

Sorry you're struggling, OP. I don't have any more suggestions (Amazon Prime/ASOS is a good one though), just came on to laugh at that!

Changerazelea · 18/08/2017 15:54

I am there with you after a four day business trip at 36 weeks pregnant in Geneva earlier in the summer and no bag. Truly Horrendous.

user1497557435 · 18/08/2017 15:56

First thing to do is buy yourself a nice summery maxi dress so you feel more comfortable, have a cooling shower & then try shopping x

purpleflower23 · 18/08/2017 15:56

allthebestnamesareused - I do this too, 1/2 of mine and DH stuff in each bag... not helpful for the OP now though - good luck, hope you find something soon! Flowers

TheDevilMadeMeDoIt · 18/08/2017 15:58

Can you buy a loose top and skirt for now rather than a swimsuit? They'd probably be easier to get hold of and you'd be more comfortable for doing the swimwear shopping.

kateandme · 18/08/2017 15:59

Lots of the big hypermarche do clothes hun.got our costumes in same situation from big supermarket.
Remember ur upset cuz of situation, don't let that heightened anxt perpetuate ur ugly feelings which it will be doing.ur lovely.so don't feel bad inside cuz of shit going on fr you right now.

maddiemookins16mum · 18/08/2017 16:00

I know this might sound silly but, try a lingerie department somewhere and pick up some dark bottoms (pants) and maybe some sort of vest type camisole that may sort of look like a tankini. Sorry, not much help I know.
Have you got the PIR number for your luggage to phone and chase your luggage?
