To be freaked out by this?!

My DH and I took the kids (DD5 and DS3) to the park today and we sat down to have some ice cream. It was busy so we asked if we could share a table with a woman and her 2 kids. All fine.

The woman then says to us: "is she your friend, yes?" I looked around but couldn't see anyone. She said, "she's just gone round the corner but there was a woman taking photos of you and your husband on her phone."

The table lady seemed very nice and gave us a good description of the woman. DH went to have a look but couldn't find her. Table lady said she took quite a few, phone pointed right at us apparently! We didn't even notice?! She said it was definitely of us, not the kids.

I'm a bit freaked out. DH doesn't think it's anything to worry about but WTF?! Why would someone do this? Confused

look like a famous couple maybe ?

StoorieHoose · 13/08/2017 20:38

If it was that busy how can you be sure she was taking pictures of you? Could have been someone behind you?

Sparklepants · 13/08/2017 20:38

That is bloody odd. I'd be well freaked out.

Starlighter · 13/08/2017 20:38

I'm not sure we look famous?! We did have our shades on though! Grin

She could have been taking photos of herself where you flip the camera so it looked like she was taking photos of you.

DubiousCredentials · 13/08/2017 20:41

She was prob taking selfies?

implantsandaDyson · 13/08/2017 20:41

Was she definitely taking photos? Could she have been looking at herself on selfie mode or taking selfies?

3wayburger · 13/08/2017 20:41

She will of been taking selfies

Starlighter · 13/08/2017 20:42

There was just a fence and some plants behind us and table woman was certain it was of us. Kids were perched on the end so she didn't think they were in the photo.

But we didn't even see photo woman, so I have no idea?! Just wracking my brains thinking about why someone would take photos of random people! Unless we know/knew her?? It's so weird!! Confused

Maybe Anecdoche! That makes me feel a bit better strangely?! Maybe table woman is the odd one and photo woman didn't exist... Shock

I took a pic of the queue in the post office the other day to show my sister. A woman was staring at me so probably thought I was taking a pic of her but she could have stepped out of it if she didn't want to be in it. I wouldn't be giving this a second thought tbh. Whats she gonna do with a pic??

Bluntness100 · 13/08/2017 20:45

I reckon table lady was bullshiting I'm sorry. Just because they seem nice doesn't mean they are all there. Sorry op.

Starlighter · 13/08/2017 20:45

Selfies!!! Possibly... I didn't see her so have no idea if she was posing or not.

I'm kicking myself I didn't notice her - if she was even there?!?! I'm so rubbish at looking at my surroundings.

Do either of you get a disability allowance of any kind?
I know there are investigators who, if they are suspicious of a claim, will spy on people, to try and catch them out, running, lifting, walking long distances etc.

MadMags · 13/08/2017 20:57

I'd say she was taking selfies!

DearMrDilkington · 13/08/2017 20:57

I think table lady wanted to freak you out so you'd leave & she wouldn't have to share her table. Wink

Viviennemary · 13/08/2017 21:03

I'd immediately think private detective of some sort. But I expect it was probably this selfie thing that others have mentioned. How boring!!

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 13/08/2017 21:12

Vivienne 'I'd immediately think private detective of some sort'

Only if you think you're likely to be followed by such a person.

BlackJesus · 13/08/2017 21:12

You think she should have stepped out of the queue and lost her place if she didn't want to be in your photo?! How fuckin entitled are you

purpleflower23 · 13/08/2017 21:22

Agree with pps, selfies or table lady was making shit up to get rid of you!

Starlighter · 13/08/2017 21:33

Nope, no allowances! Husband works FT, I'm a SAHM mum. Nothing unusual! We're pretty boring tbh...

I'm wondering if it's mistaken identity or something. Maybe one of us looks like one of their friends and they thought we were out with another man/woman??

DH thinks I'm overreacting but I still feel uneasy about it.

Table lady loved us! We were the perfect table guests, honest! Grin

Maybe there was something about the pair of you that triggered an idea for a "funny" comment on a FB / Instagram post and she took several so she could just choose the best one.

Littlepond · 13/08/2017 21:38

I think photo lady was a ghost that only table lady could see

Starlighter · 13/08/2017 21:54

Oh I hope not, chocolateworshipper! We were scoffing ice creams, it probably wasn't the most attractive photo!! Blush
