I'm sure this has been asked before but can't see anything recent. Have you ever realised an AIBU is about you or someone you know? Surely the odds are that it happens every now and again!

The80sweregreat · 10/08/2017 12:35

No, but i do read some things and think 'hmm , i wonder if that is about such and such' as some things that happen are similar to things i hear about on facebook or by talking to people.
Not had anything on here about me so far.

misjudgement · 10/08/2017 12:37

No, but every time I read a thread title with something like "AIBU about this weird mum at my DS school" or "AIBU to tell this idiot to do one" I wonder Grin

BasketOfDeplorables · 10/08/2017 12:39

I don't think I do anything interesting enough.

chickenfraybentos · 10/08/2017 12:40

misjudgement I definitely click on things that sound suspiciously like something I've done... Grin

raspberryrippleicecream · 10/08/2017 12:41

Not AIBU, but I've recognised a person mentioned, and also a friend. Both were confirmed.

MrsEzekiel · 10/08/2017 12:46

No but I often hope that the subject will come along and tear the OP a new one, especially on threads like the lazy trollop neighbour who never dries washing outside....

Papafran · 10/08/2017 12:50

Yeah, the other day, I really fancied a pie and snuck into my friend's house and tucked into one of her fray bento's and caught up on some lunchtime telly. Seems I was not as discreet as I thought, because it was all over here.

sineadHG · 10/08/2017 13:11

@Papafran hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha

no i havent ....i think most friends know how much i love mumsnet so would bitch about me elsewhere Wink

RafikiIsTheBest · 10/08/2017 13:15

Papafran, you do that too? I thought it was about me, but the days didn't match up. I guess I've not been caught then. I'll go get my key, haven't had lunch yet.

I did ponder if I was a 'lazy trollop' too, as I don't hang my washing out, but no newborn here.

toastandbutterandjam · 10/08/2017 13:18

Not yetGrin
I have wondered if some threads are about friends/ex friends though, but I doubt it.

Aridane · 10/08/2017 13:20

I also wondered if I was the lazy trollop as I don't hang washing out - and was about to launch into the value of my Lakeland heated airer. But I don't have a new born. (And nobody hangs out washing here because of insect and bird crap).

TwinkleTwinkleLittleEtoile · 10/08/2017 13:24

No. Spotted my SIL on one though. She was responding and got involved in a bit of a debate. Never mentioned it to her.

dollydaydream114 · 10/08/2017 13:28

I haven't, but a friend was convinced one of her relatives was the OP in one. The thread wasn't about my friend, but she recognised the scenario. I can't remember what it was about now, but I think the OP was widely considered to be in the wrong.

EdmundCleverClogs · 10/08/2017 13:29

Another one wondering if I'm the 'lazy laundry trollop', but then remembered my neighbour hangs their washing on the fence between our houses, and quite frankly that far more abhorrent than using a tumble dryer judgy pants fully hoisted.

I'm not sure if anyone I know would actually use MN. They have actual lives and I don't think I've done anything interesting enough recently to warrant a thread.

TheEmojiMovieLooksShite · 10/08/2017 13:29

Not myself but I've been pretty sure I've spotted a couple of colleagues in academics corner Grin

vikingprincess81 · 10/08/2017 13:44

Not in AIBU but I was recognised in another (very boring and non contentious) area of MN. I must lead a boring drama free life as a lot of AIBU makes me go Shock Grin

caffeinestream · 10/08/2017 13:47

Thankfully not. I know my future SIL uses the site though so she might have recognised me from my cat posts. I've not written anything too embarrassing though!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 10/08/2017 13:49

No. I'm sure it does happen though.

It wouldn't especially bother me of someone saw one of my posts and realised I was talking about them tbh. Unless I was revealing something which was supposed to be secret. But I probably wouldn't do that on MN anyway. It would only get picked up by the DM!

Itmustbemyage · 10/08/2017 13:50

Yes, recognised it was definitely about someone I knew.
It was quite a surprise as MN has a lot of members.

MrsClegane · 10/08/2017 13:53

I was recognised once... and I got a telling off over it oooops lol I was having a bad day and had a big rant, regretted it straight away and got pulled apart on here for it... so to be told off a few days later again made me feel like utter crap....but we make our beds and now I make sure I change details/vary details and watch what I say.

watches what I say from now on

Decaffstilltastesweird · 10/08/2017 13:53

Just thinking, a week or so ago I thought I saw a friend of mine posting about a problem on here. She'd told me about the same problem irl (DH related). When I read the thread though a lot of the details were different though, so either not her or she'd changed some details (swapped DS for DD etc).

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 10/08/2017 13:53

No but I recognised my best friend even though she changed some of the circumstances. I have since confirmed she was the OP.

VladmirsPoutine · 10/08/2017 13:56

No but I did spot a friend. She'd talked to me about the situation at length and pretty much posted the story verbatim on AIBU. She was roundly told she was being a bridezilla and being unreasonable. I didn't mention it but every now and then I do search her username to see what she's up to.

Mightywease · 10/08/2017 14:06

No....bit I did feel sheepish reading the thread today about a Mum reading loudly and ostentatiously to he child in a coffee shop Blush

In my defence it was a train rather than the a coffee shop. In the latter I would normally be going "Yes sweetheart" distractedly to my small one as I inhaled a strong espresso and a large cake!

Desperad0 · 10/08/2017 14:11

I'm not 100% sure the trollopy ndn isn't ;) although ds is 8m and I try to get the bedding out on a weekend, midweek meh- that's what dryers are for
