I'm wide awake, stuff on my mind and can't relax to sleep. I've got up and made a cuppa. Now sitting in the stairs to drink it in the dark so I don't wake dh, DT or cats.
AIBU? It's 3pm and normally I sleep like a log then wake at 6.

...ah, one of the few benefits of singledom - can have tea, coffee or cocoa any time you like...!

Rest of the deal is pretty shit, mind...

mailfuckoff · 10/08/2017 03:04

I enjoyed my tea then fell down the steps trying to put the cup in the kitchen. Only my ego hurt and no one will ever know!

YANBU...nothing worse than laying there with your mind ticking over. A cuppa sounds a good distraction. Would it be worth writing what's on your mind down and putting it away until tomorrow? Brew

cowgirlsareforever · 10/08/2017 03:06

Hope you haven't done yourself any damage mail

notevernotnevernotnohow · 10/08/2017 03:07

I don't understand how you could be unreasonable to make a drink at any time of the day or night if you want one?

dippypanda · 10/08/2017 03:08

I fancy a cuppa now... but have heartburn, might make some warm milk instead.
Hope you get some sleep!

mailfuckoff · 10/08/2017 03:08

icelemon The issue is it's not even my problem, it's nothing to do with me. I wish I could ignore it and get on with my life!
cowgirl im ok, i did have a moment as I was going down that this could be it and then realised I was only falling one step!

margaritasbythesea · 10/08/2017 03:31

I'm doing the same thing and I don't feel I'm being very unreasonable.

donajimena · 10/08/2017 03:58

I can't sleep either. Would a kind mumsnetter pop round to make me a cuppa as I cba Grin ?

PumpkinSpiceEverything · 10/08/2017 03:59

I always say nothing makes you/DC fall back asleep quicker than a hot cup of tea/coffee. Can't count the number of times I was up in the middle of the night with DD1, made a coffee and resigned myself to staying awake with her, and she promptly fell asleep Confused

e1y1 · 10/08/2017 04:01

God no, I will make a brew at any hour, in fact have just made one now.

Although we're a very weird house, we are up and down all hours of the night, whether we're up for work next day or not. So I think we're accustomed to slight background noises in the middle of the night, whether it be the kettle, TV or even occasionally the washing machine.

Pinkkahori · 10/08/2017 04:01

Just finished a large mug of tea here. Not usually up at this hour but my lovely dad died at the weekend and i can only sleep a couple of hours at a time.

Pinkkahori · 10/08/2017 04:03

Thanks e1y1.

Ladyformation · 10/08/2017 04:12

I mean this in the most envious way, but...it's caffeinated. Doesn't this affect any of you? I can't drink caffeine after 3pm...

still up working so jealous of everything

mailfuckoff · 10/08/2017 04:23

Ladyformation normally I can't drink caffine after 5 but I really fancied a cuppa. I'm still awake now though :-(. Luckily I'm working from home tomorrow so no need to get up early

Sirzy · 10/08/2017 04:29

I want a cuppa but I can hear that DS is awake so if I get up that's it's for the day!

Hope you manage to get some sleep mail!

TheLionQueen1 · 10/08/2017 04:35

I'm drinking tea and eating toast as can't sleep, had the classic waiting for the toaster to pop but still jumping out my skin in shock when it did! Pregnancy and aching legs is not fun and my nan passed away today (well yesterday now) so many things going on!

Sorry to hear about your dad pink Flowers

mailfuckoff · 10/08/2017 04:44

Sorry to hear about the people who have lost someone hugs

I'm other news I've just bought a clothes airer so not all wasted time

Good work Mail! Love a bit of late night shopping!

I've decided to try and go back to sleep but DH is in full deep snoring sleep and it's like trying to sleep through an air raid siren Grin

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 10/08/2017 05:12

We've had tea and toast in bed at about 4am. Not unusual in this house drinking tea in the middle of night.

MaitlandGirl · 10/08/2017 05:13

I never sleep well and I relish the times when I can sneak out past the dogs and have a smoke and a cup of tea outside in the middle of the night.

It's so peaceful and calming.

Hope you're not too sore from the steps.
