...To cut off this skin tag??

I have a small skin tag on my chest. it doesn't hurt and isn't discoloured. It bothers me that it's there and I worry it will get bigger! AIBU to just cut it off with clean nail scissors?

I just did the tooth floss trick on one. It worked! It is not to be recommended, see your GP.

Areyoufree · 08/08/2017 14:49

Sounds weird, but tea tree oil always works for me. Just dab a bit on every day, and it will come off on its own. No idea why.

KentMum2008 · 08/08/2017 14:50

If you really really have to (and it's not recommended) tie a piece of thread around it really tight and it will eventually drop off.

My mother tied a hair around of of hers it cut off the circulation and fell off.

Cut one off with a pair of scissors once. Didn't hurt much but bled a LOT. A crazy amount. Seeped through plaster and went all over pillow case!

Floralnomad · 08/08/2017 14:53

My dh had one and we did the tea tree oil thing and it worked .

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 08/08/2017 14:53

Tie a hair round it,it'll go black and fall off.

PerkingFaintly · 08/08/2017 14:53

This little band worked well for an awkward tag I couldn't tighten the floss round properly.

Paint it with clear nail varnish and repeat for 3 days.

MN trick I learned.Cleared several on my neck within a week! (It gets itchy though as the varnish dried).

Ikabod · 08/08/2017 14:55

I tied a hair around one and the doctor tied surgical silk around another. They both fell off never to return. I'm getting one in my eye lid so may try another tactic with that one!

madja · 08/08/2017 14:55

Use cotton or floss, and tie it around to cut off the blood flow. Please don't chop it off, I did that once and it bled like a bastard for about 2 hours, then grew back anyway!

Badbadbird · 08/08/2017 15:00

How do you tie a hair around something like that!? you lot must have amazing eyesight lol

LorLorr2 · 08/08/2017 15:02

I would get it frozen off, wouldn't dare snip it haha!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/08/2017 15:03

Tag bands work brilliantly. I got two large ones off with that kit. No scarring, nothing. You can get them off amazon.

AmyGardner · 08/08/2017 15:06

I have one hidden in a place that's not visually accessible to me. I can't contort myself to get anything tied round it. Plus it's, er, mostly hidden by hair. Blush

You reckon the tea tree oil would work?

Badbadbird · 08/08/2017 15:09

well several failed attempts to tie a thread around the stupid thing I just took the scissors to it. didn't even feel it but it did bleed for about a minute. dabbed some tcp on it. wouldn't have done it if it weren't so tiny I think for bigger ones use another method. thanks all :)

Onetedisbackinbed · 08/08/2017 15:10

Amy I'd learn to live with that one if I were you Confused

stevie69 · 08/08/2017 15:10

I once had one in an, erm, very 'delicate' place,. The nurse at the surgery (while doing my smear) tied some thread round it and it dropped off a few days later Blush

Bet you're glad I shared that Grin

CockacidalManiac · 08/08/2017 15:11

I've always cut mine off with sharp scissors, after using an alcohol wipe. They bleed like fuck until you can get a Compeed on them, but that's part of the fun.

HouseOfGoldandBones · 08/08/2017 15:12

I use nail clippers for any of mine.

Seems to make a cleaner cut, and you can get closer to the skin I find

KurriKurri · 08/08/2017 15:13

I cut one off (near the edge of my armpit) and it went very sore and a bit nasty. It's OK now. I think the thread tying might be better (or possibly leaving well alone !)

VladmirsPoutine · 08/08/2017 15:15

I use nail clippers for any of mine.

Whatever you do, don't do this. Horrific!

SoupDragon · 08/08/2017 15:16

I numbed one with ice cubes and snipped it with nail clippers. Painless but it did bleed.

morningconstitutional2017 · 08/08/2017 15:16

Hey, stevie69 I've also got a small tag near my backside - I'm almost sitting on it but as it's inaccessible without help I try to put it out of mind.Grin
