I have a small skin tag on my chest. it doesn't hurt and isn't discoloured. It bothers me that it's there and I worry it will get bigger! AIBU to just cut it off with clean nail scissors?

I tried the nail varnish thing, still have the skin tag.

They don't freeze them off anymore due to NHS cuts. I'm also awestruck by people who manage to tie something round theirs. I think I'll try the tea tree oil

The tying took some! I had to make a loop in the floss and lasso it. It took several goes.

My DC (teenage) had one that kept catching on his shirt collar. DH (a GP), tied thread round it really tightly, it stung a for a few minutes but was then painless- dropped off a few days later and had never returned.

If you have self closing tweezers hang them on the tag then you have two hands free to tie it off. it pulls the tag out a bit which makes it a LOT easier.

I swear by this. Had three of the buggers in an armpit, used this and said blighters are gone!

justanotheryoungmother · 08/08/2017 15:29

Do you have to leave the thread/hair on the entire time for the few days before it drops off??

Bravas · 08/08/2017 15:30

I used clear nail varnish, kind of made it shrivel a bit, messed with it and then just easily pulled it off after about a week.

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/08/2017 15:30

You do have to leave the floss on. And it should be really tight so would be impossible to remove anyway.

BlueKarou · 08/08/2017 15:32

I have one which has developed its own blood supply, so will have to be removed by the GP. For anyone else thinking about removing their own - check to see if it blanches when pressed, then swiftly pinkens back up. If it does so then probably not a good idea to operate on yourself!

But One it's visually accessible to DH, IYSWIM, which means I'd kinda like to get rid of it... Wink
