White nationalists carry torches, shout 'you will not replace us' during Virginia protest

Lots of comments about how they weren't tear gassed like blm. Also how they've marched with burning torches and are so comfortable with it that they haven't covered their faces.

They were treated differently to blm (no teargas etc) and the protesters were so far removed from feeling ashamed at their actions that they didn't even hide their faces.

And he points to another sign that the U.S. is not moving toward war with North Korea: There have been no efforts to evacuate the at least 150,000 U.S. citizens living in South Korea.

Not so sure about that.

The current Administration is a shambles and deorganised.
Trump doesn't care about the citizens there, or anywhere.

He could lose it and start something the US is not prepared for. And that's assuming NK won't start it (I don't think it will, but who knows?).

BossyBitch · 12/08/2017 10:40

Someone asked if threatening war on Twitter is a breach of their terms and conditions?

It probably isn't - if only because nobody reckoned with the possibility of anybody actually capable of starting one using Twitter of all things to threaten to.

I'm in tech and this sort of thing happens all the time: you fireproof your T&Cs to death and then some next generation moron comes along and abuses the system for something that was just simply too absurd to have been covered.

woman12345 · 12/08/2017 10:52

As twitter is his weapon of choice, why not disarm him by collective take down.

BossyBitch · 12/08/2017 11:19

What do you have in mind, woman?

I personally suspect that he'd be rather vulnerable to social engineering or to personalised attacks in general. If, hypothetically, someone managed to obtain control over his Twitter account and started spreading messages of peace, love, happiness and pictures of kittens, I'd personally find it quite hilarious. 🐈🌻

Of course, it'd also be highly illegal and might just provoke him into something incredibly dangerous and moronic.

BossyBitch · 12/08/2017 11:21

... then again, there may not be much room left for him to get yet more dangerous and moronic at this point.

Go for it, hackers!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/08/2017 11:22

Problem is that his twitter bots drown out an awful lot of anti Trump tweets. Surely they would just ramp up?

woman12345 · 12/08/2017 11:23

Peace. love and kittens sounds good.Smile BossyBitch
I am a social media twit, but anything to side step this foolishness would be nice. But he is clearly poorly and powerful and as you say, that type need little provocation. Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/08/2017 11:24

maybe we could try and drown out his tweets with a love and flowers campaign though, tag both the Koreans and Trump in. hmmmmm. It's an interesting thing to try. Would have to make sure he didn't think all the flowers were for him though.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/08/2017 11:26

I wonder how it could be done. We'd feel like twerps if it were just five of us sending kittens and flowers and it would be a bit outing.

It's a very exciting idea though.

BossyBitch · 12/08/2017 11:33

Bots, bots, bots. Massive, bigly bots! Grin

The question is rather: what should they be doing? And how should they be doing it in order to avoid being terminated while also being highly visible and annoyingly positive.

woman12345 · 12/08/2017 11:37

I vote for orchids and butterflies. Smile
The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.
Sun Tzu thanks cosie who first posted these?
Feel we could do with a little old school help at times like this. I know one Buddhist strategy is to meditate on compassion for self and others. The poor mad old man/men seem to need a bit of both.

lionheart · 12/08/2017 12:42

I'm afraid I don't know how bots work but butterflies, kitten and orchids sound so much better than the driven he tweets.

I guess you could do the #hastag thingy to get it underway if you did not have bot technology.

BiglyBadgers · 12/08/2017 12:54

Loads of bots tweeting pictures of cute kittens saying 'just look at our big eyes when you feel like pressing that button' and 'whiskers the kitten is generally not in favour of nuclear war'

BiglyBadgers · 12/08/2017 12:57

'Everytime you post a racist tweet this puppy grows a bit more disappointed in you'

Gumpendorf · 12/08/2017 12:57

Trump to governor of Guam: "I can say this, your tourism is going to go up like tenfold ... so I congratulate you"

'The Apprentice-War Special.'

When will 'someone' decide this is not 'normal' behaviour?

What strikes me is that everything seems so calm. Yes, it's August but even so. Either someone has signaled to other leaders that this is not real - and they are just letting Trump pretend. Or the phones of other g20 leaders are red hot atm.

Peace to everyone FlowersFlowers

lionheart · 12/08/2017 13:11

Love it!

cozietoesie · 12/08/2017 13:13

....your tourism is going to go up like tenfold.....??

GingerIvy · 12/08/2017 13:34

Yes, people have already been saying "Go to Guam, it's da bomb!"

Personally, the more they make fun, the less some take him seriously. I think fight back needs to be political and serious. The joking about him is what enabled him in the first place. People didn't see him as a threat.

BiglyBadgers · 12/08/2017 13:37

In a situation where the average person has little to no control over whether a bloody great big bomb is dropped on them humour is a survival mechanism. It is needed or we would all just crawl into a corner and scream to ourselves, which wouldn't really help anyone.

cozietoesie · 12/08/2017 13:44

There's a big difference between laughing about something and actually loading the family on planes, though, surely?

Unescorted · 12/08/2017 13:51

The Twitter t&c forbidding threatening behaviours has just popped up on my Facebook. It specifies that you may not threaten to harm or injure a person or group of people..... Go on Twitter, you know you want to pull his account.

BiglyBadgers · 12/08/2017 13:51

Is anyone sane actually doing that though? I've just seen snarky comments, nobody actually jumping on a plane just for the lolz.
