To think my hips will never go back.

18months post partum. Lost all my baby weight and then some (around a stone more). But none of my pre-pregnancy trousers for me.

Be honest with me. My hips will never shrink back will they Sad

Why don't people tell you this shit?

For? Clearly I mean fit.

As in, can't get them further than mid thigh. I'm pear shaped if that makes a difference.

I have no idea but I really hope they will. Currently pregnant with first baby, hips and thighs are the only place I've put on (non-bump related) weight. My hips were not small in comparison to the rest of my body to start with!

namechange20050 · 31/07/2017 12:22

Hi op yes I found the same. My DS is now 2, I weigh the same as I did pre pregnancy but my topshop skinny jeans won't go up futher than mid thigh. So irritating!

SerfTerf · 31/07/2017 12:23

Yes they will. Or at least, they can. What exercise are you getting?

It's harder after girls than boys because of the oestrogen which encourages laying down of gay stores.

SerfTerf · 31/07/2017 12:24

Fat! Fat stores not gay stores Blush

I hate to tell you this but...

Pre- DS I was tiny, smaller than a 6, and had hardly any hips at all.

Post DS, 5 fucking years later, and I have still not gone back to the size I was before. I have put on loads round that area.

I swear the actual hip bones have shifted a bit, because no matter how much work I do on that area, I just get a smaller waist but the hips stay the same.

I didn't have boobs either before DS and now I have a proper rack, and have an ass that Rhianna herself would be proud of (or so says DP!)

My mum was the same, nearly androgynous in shape until she had me, and has been all hips and boobs ever since!

I think some women just change shape after kids.

I was gutted at first, was so used to being the really slim one, but I now love my curves, I've embraced the "new" me!

I think my hips are permanently a bit wider now after ds but it makes my waist look small . preens Grin every cloud and all that !

manglethedangle · 31/07/2017 12:31

It's definitely not fat, I have far less to grab than pre DS, it's my bones that have moved.

OP posts:
Hapaxlegomenon · 31/07/2017 12:36

Op I believe that my bones have also moved! I have the same amount of fat but even my husband remarked that I'm a different shape in the hips. He said he liked the wider hip look!

Birdsgottaf1y · 31/07/2017 12:37

Every program about pregnancy has said about the possible widening of the hips and waist, so the information is about.

It's mentioned on Gone with the Wind, when Scarlett is being laced into her corsets.

Surely if had of know you wouldn't have decided to not go ahead with the pregnancy?

Your body and face are going to change, as soon as you get over that the better, tbh (speaking as a 49 year old Mum of three).

clumsyduck · 31/07/2017 12:37

Should have said it definitely my actual bones that have moved . This is a thing right ?

manglethedangle · 31/07/2017 12:47

birds everyone told me it all goes back to normal in a few months. They lied.

And had I been told what would happen to my body post pregnancy and birth, I wouldn't have gone through with t. The decision to have a child wasn't an emotional one, I never had that urge.

My ribs moved out and have never gone back, so my back is wider.

Thanks, motherhood! Grin

DownUdderer · 31/07/2017 12:50

My rib cage seems bigger and I'm sure it'll never they'll never go back

manglethedangle · 31/07/2017 12:51

My ribs and waist seem normal again now I've lost weight. I have a mum tum though Sad

OP posts:
manglethedangle · 31/07/2017 12:52

The mum tum I expected though. I just don't want to buy new trousers, was really looking forward to wearing my 'thin' clothes.

Maudlinmaud · 31/07/2017 12:53

Yy my ribs moved too. Not sure about the hips though, but definitely sure about the ribs. Oh well!

Iamtheresurrection · 31/07/2017 12:53

My ribs also moved. Five years later they've still not gone back.

MrsPeacockDidIt · 31/07/2017 12:58

Before pregnancy the ligaments holding your pelvis together is super tight. The pregnancy hormones relax all these ligaments to enable the pelvis to spread for birthing. The pelvis is never as tight again after pregnancy.

eurochick · 31/07/2017 13:01

My hips seem to be the same (but I didn't have a VB). However, my ribs have moved. I'm back to my pre preg weight but I have some beautiful empire line black tie dresses that are fine around my waist and boobs but won't do up around my ribs. I think I need a corset...

Mothervulva · 31/07/2017 13:01

My ribs are still bigger meaning I can't wear some old dresses. Also, I have stretched skin which hangs down attractively.

Out2pasture · 31/07/2017 15:45

Feet, hips ribs widen and no don't go back.

Groupie123 · 31/07/2017 15:54

You need core strengthening exercise that focusses on abdominals and the pelvic floor. It's not about fat it's about rebuilding the muscle you have before - personal trainers can help with this
