To think she is being a drama queen?

A friend of mine has fallen out because I referred to her unborn child as it and not she. I didn't mean to offend and said it in passing.

Yep, total drama queen. My friend occasionally refers to my son (18months) as it, she doesn't mean to be horrible just isn't child oriented.

Some people are just offended for offenders sake.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 28/07/2017 16:45

How ridiculous - yes she's being a drama queen. What a ludicrous thing for her to fall out with you about.

needsomesunshineandwine · 28/07/2017 16:46

🤣🤣. Yip total drama queen!!

Boredwithmyname · 28/07/2017 16:47

Drama queen yes but also hormonal, may be tired, may have other things going on in her life etc etc. I’d cut her some slack.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 28/07/2017 16:50

Referring to an unborn baby by its sex is a relatively new thing.
In my day all babies were "it" until they were born!

Also these days just because her baby will have female anatomy, doesn't mean they will be a She...

laura1206 · 28/07/2017 16:50

When I was pregnant, even after I knew he was a boy, sometimes I would say 'it'. E.g. 'It kicked!' And make my DH jump out of his skin 😂

eirrah · 28/07/2017 16:52

Boredwithmyname - sorry, friend is in same sex relationship and she's not carrying!!

Glad it's not just me who thinks she's OTT!

OP posts:
BackforGood · 28/07/2017 16:56

Completely OTT. It would be very hard work to remain friends with someone who takes offence at nothing like that - they might have done you a favour longer term.

kissmethere · 28/07/2017 17:01

Drama queen. Taking things way too personal for drama. Could be over sensitive but hey ho.

Notknownatthisaddress · 28/07/2017 17:06

Drama queen. FFS, some people are so dramatic!

Maybe it's the baby hormones.

Just say you didn't mean to upset her. If she is still sniffy, then just give her a wide berth. (For a while.)

BasedOnTrueEvents · 28/07/2017 17:07

She sounds like very very hard work.

Notknownatthisaddress · 28/07/2017 17:08

Oh she isn't carrying it? That makes her equally silly!

Caterina99 · 28/07/2017 17:16

Ridiculous! I know my current pregnancy is a girl (according to 20 week scan) but I still say it! Can hardly bring myself to say she - it's just too weird. Certainly wouldn't be offended by someone else saying it

Witsender · 28/07/2017 17:17

I refer to mine as it sometimes, even though I know he's a boy.

PyongyangKipperbang · 28/07/2017 18:20

Mine were all "The Baby" even after I knew their sex from the scan. Not least because I know three people who were "definitely" expecting a boy or girl and then got the other one! So they would sometimes be referred to as "it" as in "When the baby is born it will sleep in our room for 6 months".

Crumbs1 · 28/07/2017 18:23

Just silly.

eirrah · 30/07/2017 21:26

So since this I've been blocked on WhatsApp and deleted off some other social medias but still friends on Facebook....

Should I delete her? Or is that what she wants?! I can't be bothered with her pettiness but wow I want done with her!!

OP posts:
Awwlookatmybabyspider · 30/07/2017 21:45

And the Oscar for The best drama performance goes to, drum role....................eirrah's friend.Grin
All jokes aside for a minute though. She must have had a problem with you to begin with. If she's falling out with you over something so trivial.

Crispmonster1 · 30/07/2017 21:46

She's probably TTC and jealous of you.

MaisyPops · 30/07/2017 21:48

She sounds high maintenence and the type of person who thinks the world will care as much about every detail as she does.

Total drama queen.

biffyboom · 30/07/2017 21:50

Ha! I'm 37wks, know I'm having a girl, but still mostly refer to her as 'it'. The words are out of my mouth before I realise.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 30/07/2017 21:56

Drama Queen and she cant even blame the hormones.

RebootYourEngine · 30/07/2017 22:02

Definitely a drama queen. I know a couple of people who were told what they were having and it turned out to be the opposite.

I would just ignore her. Dont block her or send her a message telling her to give her head a wobble. As tempting as that may beGrin

NikiBabe · 30/07/2017 22:17

Should I delete her? Or is that what she wants?! I can't be bothered with her pettiness but wow I want done with her!!

I wouldn't give her the slightest reaction.

I have some drama queen friends who then deleted me on instagram and whatsapp but left me on facebook. Im not deleting them as I dont care enough about them to bother.

ButchyRestingFace · 30/07/2017 22:18

She sounds like a fruit 🎂

Maybe she's just spoiling for a fight and sees this as her ammunition?
