Partner of 2 years (we don't live together by mutual agreement, but are in an "exclusive" relationship) spends weekends at my house when my children are with their dad. Friday was his last day at work due to a job change. He went out after work for a few drinks, said he'd be a couple of hours. Came back to mine very pissed at 2am. I was a bit annoyed but let it go.
Today, I needed to text from his phone because my battery was dead. In the box at the bottom of the new, blank text, were the words "sexy" "pictures" "send". Am I right in thinking these are words which have been recently typed? He was next to me when I saw this and I pointed it out - he said they're not words he's typed and phones just display random words. I think this is bollocks. Opinions, please?

Total bollocks. He's typed those words recently I'm afraid.

chowmeinchick · 25/07/2017 21:47

He's full of shit. Definitely not random words.

ginflumpsandzebraprint · 25/07/2017 22:32

Total bollocks sorry

Calvinlookingforhobbs · 25/07/2017 22:33

He is a liar. I'm sorry.

OnionKnight · 25/07/2017 22:34

Is he using predictive typing? A lot of them, if not all remember the common words that a user types.

Tootsiepops · 25/07/2017 22:35

'...phones just display random words...'

Is that really the best he could come up with? Shock

Fruitcorner123 · 25/07/2017 22:36

Yes sorry sounds like they are words he has recently and/or regularly used

crazykitten20 · 25/07/2017 22:40

It's called 'learned words'. For those words to appear he ( or whoever uses his phone) HAS to have typed them in - for the phone to learn them.

justilou · 25/07/2017 22:47

Pants on fire, sorry OP

Flypaperforarseholes · 25/07/2017 23:22

Seems I'm not "fucking crazy" as he has put it. Thanks, all.

I think your phone displays the most commonly used words to start a text. Mine suggests 'I', 'hello' and 'oh'. Which just goes to show that my sext life is very pedestrian. (Unlike that of your partner, unless he routinely texts you with messages that begin with those words?)

e1y1 · 25/07/2017 23:28

YABU,

Out of the thousands of words in the English language, of course the words sexy pictures and send appear at random and altogether too.

Your time to type get the fuck out.

Flypaperforarseholes · 25/07/2017 23:29

He now says he typed "sexy pictures" into google and that's why the words are coming up as suggested. What I type in my search bar doesn't come up in texts so fairly sure this, too, is bollocks. Have been searching online for an article or something to support my theory that only words typed in a text will then appear as suggested words for further texts. I know it seems mad that I'm going to the effort of trying to prove it to him but I would just like to be able to show the slippery bastard that he is completely caught out.

Calvinlookingforhobbs · 25/07/2017 23:31

Why don't you suggest to him that you'll keep his phone for a few days and see if anyone inappropriate texts?

e1y1 · 25/07/2017 23:33

Nope he is full of shit.

QuickType as it is known, suggests words based on the APP you're in, so texts different to internet browser.

FACT!

Lavabravacava · 25/07/2017 23:35

I just checked the words that come up at the bottom of my messages. It's 'Mum, boys, Holidays'

I write these words a lot.

crazycatgal · 25/07/2017 23:36

He's lying, don't let the sleazeball tell you that you're 'fucking crazy.' Generally when someone reacts like that they're guilty.

toastandbutterandjam · 25/07/2017 23:37

I recently got a new phone. At first, it came up with no words. Now, the only words that come up are the ones I often put in my texts. If I click on a new message, it comes up with "Hi" "My" and "Ducxing" - Not sure what the last one is, but I can't get rid of it Grin

No words such as "sexy" or similar come up on my phone.

I hope you're ok Flowers

MeanAger · 25/07/2017 23:39

I just checked mine and the three words that came up were "I" "he" and "the". I have sons and also was having a ranty conversation about my neighbour who is male which I guess explains the "he". "I" and "the" are pretty commonly used.

aaaaargghhhhelpme · 25/07/2017 23:40

Toast - Ducxing - that's you trying to type 'fucking' and your phone being easily offended. I have the same thing. It keeps trying to tell me fuckibg is a word...

MeanAger · 25/07/2017 23:41

So has he offered to let you check his messages and phone gallery?

RunRabbitRunRabbit · 25/07/2017 23:41

He is already completely caught out. What else are you looking for?

He's made it 100% clear to you that he will not admit it, even if that means spouting the most ridiculous bollocks and calling you names.

Don't engage with the crazy. Just dump him.
