Your husband is a paramedic, imagine how he would feel if every time someone called an ambulance when they had a headache as it 'might be a brain haemorrhage'. With the best will in the world, that's what you are doing.
Please don't waste the police's time until there's something actually concrete to go on. Whilst they are spending time telling you what other people have told you on this thread, they could be deal with a real crime elsewhere.

You are entitled to feel safe in your home.
Phone the Police!
Who is to know whats outside?
Jesus, if everyone called the cops everyone they heard an unexplained, non-specific noise outside, the police would be engaged in nothing else (bar sitting by the phone waiting for the mumsnet users to call up to 'get sometging logged' in the big logbook all branches keep next to the phone)

No you're entitled to be safe in your own home, and she is. The police don't need to attend for your feelings.
"Who is to know who's outside? It will take them a minute to check all is ok" Indeed, one way to find out is to check yourself, especially as it will only take a minute.
Ffs- There's less police now than in 1985. There's the equivalent of TWELVE entire police forces lost since 2010. But let's call them out because of a noise in the garden

OK, are you ready for this? We've had a criminal in the garden who has decimated our plants and knocked over the candles. A fucking goat. It's now tethered in the garden where it can only eat the grass and DP will sort it out later because he didn't shut the gate last night, thankfully I know where it's probably come from.
