Relative staying at the moment.

She is sat in our front doorstep in her nightie smoking a cig.

I'm embarrassed.

Please tell me I'm not BU.

Stop caring what people think. She's sitting on the doorstep smoking big fookin whoop

Sexykittenhells · 22/07/2017 22:06

Why would she not go out the back? So odd. Unless you have no back door/garden?

Sirzy · 22/07/2017 22:06

Why are you embarrassed?

Notknownatthisaddress · 22/07/2017 22:06

YABU

A bit.

Where do you want her to go?

Moanyoldcow · 22/07/2017 22:07

Why are you embarrassed?

Piratesandpants · 22/07/2017 22:08

I would be too...

MycatsaPirate · 22/07/2017 22:08

You sound like my mother ... what WILL the neighbours think??

YABU

Tofutti · 22/07/2017 22:09

Oh God not again. There was a thread recently about another guest sitting in the front garden.

It's.no.big.deal.

Sparklingbrook · 22/07/2017 22:10

Who is even going to notice? Is everyone looking out of their windows at 10pm?

Flushot · 22/07/2017 22:11

You'd only moan if she did it inside

otterlieriver · 22/07/2017 22:14

I'm not sure why I find it embarrassing, in fairness... but I know I do !

It's your home. Ask her to go out back if it really bothers you.

EsmereldaMargaretNoteSpelling · 22/07/2017 22:20

It's awful. Common & nasty.

ExcitingButScaryTimesAhead · 22/07/2017 22:24

At least she isn't smoking in your house. It's the 'what will the neighbours think' embarrassment, it will pass. I don't envy you.

Katinkka · 22/07/2017 22:42

Yanbu. Very common and embarrassing.

supersop60 · 22/07/2017 22:45

I guess she's not smoking inside the house.
Our neighbour over the road stands on his front step to have a smoke all the time
I know what you mean - my mum would have said 'it's a bit common'
It's not so serious, really.

Flopjustwantscoffee · 22/07/2017 22:46

Sort of depends a bit on the style of nighty as to whether auburn

Flopjustwantscoffee · 22/07/2017 22:47

Auburn? autocorrect fail - yabu

BackforGood · 22/07/2017 22:55

YANBU. Don't you have a back garden or back yard ?

Nettletheelf · 22/07/2017 22:56

Is she doing it to get a rise out of you? That's the sort of thing my mother lives for.

Justhadmyhaircut · 22/07/2017 22:57

Tell her to get in before her nightie is darked on. ....

MrsPear · 22/07/2017 23:02

Is she bit cold?! I would at least put my dressing gown on.

If you are that bothered open the back door

MsJamesDeanBradfield · 22/07/2017 23:06

That's so chavvy and embarrassing. Get her in now!

pictish · 22/07/2017 23:23

Don't be embarrassed, it's not you out there.

CloserIAmToFine · 22/07/2017 23:26

I bet it wouldn't feel nearly as bad if it was a friend instead of a family member, especially if it's your DM or DSis. Family members tend to push our buttons in ways that are often disproportionate to the actual thing they are doing. I completely understand, and if that was my sister or mum I'd be mortified too. But just to reassure you it's not that big of a deal. I live in a very naice neighborhood and wouldn't think twice if I saw what you describe.
