lovemycatsanddog · 18/07/2017 22:22

I have been waiting in all afternoon for a parcel to be delivered for my daughter by Hermes,it was to be no later than 6-50
My daughter rang at 7 to say it has arrived then?
No it didnt arrive, so she lookede at tracking, and it says delivered and signed for,
I dont know who they can say who is suppposed to have signed for it, but i have been in all day and evening, and no one knocked or rang the bell, my dog goes mad anyway if anyone comes to the door
This happened once before almost.
I actually saw a card pushed through the lerterbox, picked it up and it said tried to deliver parcel, so had to ring and rearrange delivey, no one even knocked i was sat watching

Hermes are the worst. My mum sent a parcel to my cousin at Christmas. It was delivered apparently. She's still waiting. If a company uses Hermes to delivery, i think twice before ordering

newdaylight · 18/07/2017 22:37

YABVVU
hermes never deliver.

SloanePeterson · 18/07/2017 22:38

I've had this just today with Hermes too. Tracking says signed for and I've not received a thing. John Lewis should know better than to use such a shitty courier. Hoping I'll get my item or my money back, but don't know what to think

rabbitcakes · 18/07/2017 22:39

My heart always sinks when I find out it's Hermes. They employ a special form of (non) delivery people.

LemonRedwood · 18/07/2017 22:41

Hermes are the worst of the lot. I have had items that have apparently been delivered disappear into the ether as well as website say "tried to deliver" (nothing as useful as a card through the door) after being in all door. Will avoid them like the plague if I can.

lovemycatsanddog · 18/07/2017 22:41

My daughter is going to ring tomorrow, would love to see whose signature they have got
Probably forged her name, she wasnt even here, staying at boyfriends
Think it was from Sainsburys,or Asda

*in all day

Shamoo · 18/07/2017 22:42

Exactly the same thing here today :(

Crumbs1 · 18/07/2017 22:45

They do deliver but if you order from the Paris website it does take a little longer. You can get most items from Harrodsburg and they're delivery is reliable.

LittleCandle · 18/07/2017 22:46

I am probably the only person in the universe with a good Hermes delivery person. But prior to this, my heart sank when I saw it was Hermes delivering and if I send stuff to my DDs and it goes by Hermes, I know there will be traumas most of the time. One time they sent DD2 a picture of the door of the house they had tried to deliver to and not only was it not her house, it was not even in her street! We later discovered it was not in her town either! Bloody useless as a general rule, but if you find a good one, be lovely to them - it pays off!

kali110 · 18/07/2017 22:49

I won't use anybody who uses these.
Shityy company.
They will say your item has been delivered (when it hasn't) they will toss your parcels around and they won't even bother ringing your bell.
Disgusting company.
The more people and companies that stop using them the better.

kali110 · 18/07/2017 22:51

I also had the card put in my doir saying 'sorry you weren't in' when i was Hmm

Downwiththatsortofthing252 · 18/07/2017 23:01

Check your outside bin!
I had a delivery coming from Next by Hermes, they said it had been delivered but I checked with neighbours and roommates and nothing. Later that eve my roommate put the recycling out, and happened to look in the bin to see the Next logo and my three outfits. Thank god she looked!

I've also heard of them putting them in outside sheds, bushes etc

MumsOnCrack · 18/07/2017 23:06

Happens all the time - they're crap. Make sure you complain and you'll get postage refunded.

glenthebattleostrich · 18/07/2017 23:07

No little, my Hermes man is brilliant. He has my number and if I have a parcel he texts to check if I'll be in when he's in the area, if not he signs and drops it round later (he lived a few minutes away).

He also knows happy to take parcels for most of my neighbours so help each other out.

gingergenius · 18/07/2017 23:08

Hermes are shite. They've let me down as a supplier delivering to clients so many times I refuse to use them now!

Littlepleasures · 18/07/2017 23:11

A few months ago, I was expecting a parcel on the Thursday but it didn't arrive. I was away on a mini break from the Friday to the Monday. Checked my emails on the Friday evening, one from Hermes to say my parcel had been delivered that day. Oh great I thought. They must have left it with a neighbour. Got home late Monday. My parcel was sitting on the doorstep in full view. Could not believe it hadn't been nicked. It did have Dunhelm all over it in huge letters so maybe thieves aren't in to soft furnishings. I did leave a review with Dunhelm to flag up how crap Hermes are but there was no acknowledgement. I now phone my neighbour to check my doorstep if I'm away and think a parcel might be delivered. To be honest, Hermes aren't the only firm that do this. I often get a text to say my amazon parcel has been delivered when I've been in all day and had no delivery. When I check my doorstep, there it is. The buggers don't even bother to ring the bell. Wouldn't be surprised if they stay in the van and hurl it out the window!

ladyyyglittersparkles · 18/07/2017 23:12

I must be so lucky - my Hermes guy is fab! Leaves his home number on parcels but always puts them in my shed. Very rural area so safe enough but if I arrange a return he's here the next day and he knows roughly when either me DH or our 16yo DD will be around!

DonaldStott · 18/07/2017 23:33

If a company uses Hermes to delivery, i think twice before ordering

^this x 1,000,000.

Had so many crappy experiences with this company, including a fake, signed for parcel from ebay, which was sent via click and collect to Argos.

Proper shite.

caddywally · 18/07/2017 23:43

I don't understand how Hermes are still going. Everyone (except the few lucky people on this thread) who I've spoken to about Hermes has said they're complete shite. I once had a parcel that wasn't picked up because apparently I wasn't in (I was) and the delivery man left no indication of when/if collection would be reattempted. After waiting a few more days with no contact I tried to contact their customer service team to cancel the collection and it was a painful experience. I wouldn't use them again.

kali110 · 18/07/2017 23:51

If you have a garden check they havent thrown it over your fence, check ALL your bins and neighbours and check all your neighbours porch, even several doors down...

lovemycatsanddog · 18/07/2017 23:52

Checked all bins.and behind plant pots etc .nothing

I have a really pleasant Hermes delivery man (DH calls him my "courier fwend", Inbetweeners-style) and one who's less friendly but still sensible with the deliveries. My issue with Hermes is the tracking- on a couple of occasions the website has shown the status as out for delivery that day but wasn't actually with the courier and so not delivered until the next day.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 18/07/2017 23:59

The poor drivers get paid literally just pennies per delivery, get WAAAAAY too many deliveries a day than can actually be delivered, and if they don't get it delivered the day it is estimated, they don't get paid.
They don't even get time for toilet breaks, many of them have to use bottles in the van!
Many do leave them anywhere they can and sign for it themselves.
Others sign for parcels they still have in their possession so they get marked delivered on the day so they still get paid, then deliver on a later day when/if they get time to and are in the area.
If i'm remembering correctly, they use their own vehicles and don't get paid for their petrol either. It is a truly shit company that treats its "employees" (actually they are considered self employed so no sick days etc) like absolute garbage. Many don't treat parcels with care because they are so badly treated and its the only job they can get, there's no incentive to do anything but the bare minimum, and the customer services team are awful, only dealing with whoever booked them, not the person whose purchase they never deliver!

Blame the company, not the drivers, many actually lose money not make it.

mum11970 · 18/07/2017 23:59

We have a fantastic Hermes courier. I actively look for companies who use Hermes as I know I'm guaranteed delivery.
