Am I a horrible snob?
Here are mine:
Bowls of pebbles on coffee table (why?)
Black and diamanté furniture
Photos printed onto canvas (CRAP quality just get a good photographic print and frame it!)
Those shiny duvet sets and cushions
Fire surround but no fire place (not) even a hole in the wall!

Walls that are painted one colour on the top half and a different colour on the bottom, usually with a stick on wallpaper border in the middle.

Gloss paint that's not white

Innermagic · 16/07/2017 21:54

Twigs in vases???

ScrumDinger · 16/07/2017 21:54

Laminate flooring makes my feet feel sad.

CremeFresh · 16/07/2017 21:55

As pp have said - what have all these style gurus got if not glittery/ twiggy shit/ grey walls etc ?

MikeUniformMike · 16/07/2017 21:55

I have piss mats. They are there for a reason. DP's aim after a few beers is a bit hit and miss. I zoflora them before they get washed.

Bluntness100 · 16/07/2017 21:56

I also have two wood burners and log baskets..not sure they are artfully arranged though,,😜

Someone needs to start a thread on what is allowed...

HairyToity · 16/07/2017 21:56

Brown decor. I have often stayed in hotels and holiday cottages, where the key colour seems to be shades of brown (maybe with a hint or purple) - eugh.

NorksAreMessy · 16/07/2017 21:57

I have a gigantic clock. < I said CLOCK, pervs>
I have leather sofas (dog proof)
I have magnolia walls (furniture is bonkers, so need a foil for that)

Pet peeve is shabby shit. Not nicely painted, waxed and well done , but 'slap a load of paint on and scrape it back in the edges' quick and dirty bollox

BreconBeBuggered · 16/07/2017 21:57

Anything that isn't carpet, outside of kitchens and bathrooms. Don't care if it's proper £££ wood or cheap laminate. It's hard and slippery and has no place in a British home. If you live somewhere warmer, I might let you off.
I'm not mad on the hearts and slogans crap but give me that over soulless furnishings, neutral colours and nothing revealing any hint of personality.

another20 · 16/07/2017 21:57

I always check out Next Home to work out what not to buy.....

NauticalDisaster · 16/07/2017 21:59

another20 · 16/07/2017 21:59

Horizontal thick striped nylon shiny curtains

GoldSpot · 16/07/2017 21:59

Laminate flooring
All fake wood
Carpets in bathrooms
Wood chip wall paper
Leather dining furniture
Mirrored picture frames
Rooms painted in 'statement' colours - especially red - really oppressive
Fake flowers
Inspirational artwork
High gloss kitchens in bright colours
Office style blinds
Blank walls where fire places have been removed
No pictures
No books
Clutter

RiverTam · 16/07/2017 22:00

Cheap laminate just looks like cheap laminate, horrible stuff. Plus dust gathers in the corners far more, and far more visibly, than with carpet. After erroneously installing cheap laminate in my house in the 90s, like everyone else, I vowed to never let that stuff entire my abode every again.

It's quite funny watching cats slither over it though, I'll grant you that.

NicolasFlamel · 16/07/2017 22:00

I can't with those glittery stairs 😭 what the fuck.

Cantspell2 · 16/07/2017 22:00

I have fitted carpets, a brown leather suite, cream fabric dining chairs, lladro figures and even a small vase with fake flowers and a peacock feather. It is tucked into a corner so not to in your face but the fake flowers were my late mother in laws and the feather was a gift from my son that he found on holiday nearly 15 years ago.
Nothing designer about my house. It is a homefullof general crap collected over the years.

Bluntness100 · 16/07/2017 22:00

Allowed in mumsnet world I meant,,,😂

stubbornstains · 16/07/2017 22:01

another20, I just had a quick look at the Next Home website, out of curiosity. With you there Grin. Not least because.....(hoiks bosom)...they have a misplaced apostrophe on their homepage. "Sofa's" indeed!
