So we have 2 children, 3 & 4 month old. Dad not seen them much this week as work was very busy. So this morning he decided to give me a break (I also run a small business) and whisked them off for a morning out. I have just got up, it's 2.15pm!!! Admittedly I did bf the baby at 7 but I've none the less spent most of the day sleeping. He's just phoned & told me he's heading back & gave me a brief summery. They had an overpriced breakfast at an artisanal bakery, then headed to the park where 3 year old had to go to the toilet. He ended up getting some wee on his shorts & obvs husband didn't check the bag so 3 yr old was left in tshirt, pants & trainers. They then went to the shops & bought some more bloody toot toot vehicles & ended up in McDonalds eating ice cream. Oh & 3 yr old spilled milkshake all over himself. AIBU in not giving a shit that he wasted money, gave them too much junk, ignored the babies routine & wasn't embarrassed to take a filthy half dressed child into our local town because I had a lie in till 2!!!

YANBU, the DC were happy and safe with their parent. Glad you enjoyed your lie in!

Mediumred · 10/06/2017 14:58

Aww! Sounds like they all had a great time and you had a great time! Win-win, should be a weekly event!

squoosh · 10/06/2017 14:58

The dirt will gave been good for his immune system

The artisan breakfast will be have supported a local business

The McDonalds will have tasted delicious and dealt with the hunger

The toot toot cars will be good for motor skills and imaginative play

And you got a big fat lie in. Win!

supermoon100 · 10/06/2017 15:00

And surely if dh is looking after them he can do what he likes!

Kidneybean212 · 10/06/2017 15:01

Ha ha, thanks. Although it did forget half of the items we needed from the shopping list so my hug wasn't quite so big

He is loving these comments & I am campaigning for this to be a weekly event.

Sounds like a fab day had all around Grin

MickeyRooney · 10/06/2017 15:13

Leave him to it. He'll learn....

Coddiwomple · 10/06/2017 15:17

You don't sound very nice, he's trying his best and you make a list of the things you disagree with. Please do not tell him any of that, or he'll be really in his right to let you get on with it in the future.

No wonder so many fathers give up on looking after their kids when they can't escape moans and criticism.

squoosh · 10/06/2017 15:19

Oh give over! Men who give up lookinh after their own kids give do so because they're lazy parents looking for any excuse.

KindleBueno · 10/06/2017 15:19

I think Mumsnet needs a lighthearted klaxon

Kidneybean212 · 10/06/2017 15:20

Coddi - I was waiting for you to show up & you didn't let me down.

SteppingOnToes · 10/06/2017 15:23

Dirty kids = happy kids! Win!

Trumpton · 10/06/2017 15:24

How lovely !
You could have posted...
AIBU I have a 3 year old and a 4 month old and am totally exhausted looking after them and running a small business .
My 'D'H had them this morning and made such a palaver over looking after them including a grossly overpriced wanky breakfast and a junk meal at McDonald's .
He also let the toddler wee on himself and paraded him around town in his underpants - anyone could have seen him ! I had packed clean shorts in the day bag all he had to do was look !
When they returned the 3 year old was coverered in milk shake !
And they had bought some more toot- toot vehicles when we have plenty at home that I rotate on a regular basis.
AIBU to tell him to do a proper job next time !

Well done for a great family dynamic .

jemmstar1980 · 10/06/2017 15:25

Oh Jesus give the man a break!!

Coddiwomple · 10/06/2017 15:25

well you are the one making a list of all the things a father has done wrong whilst entertaining his kid and letting his wife sleep.

pfff reverse it, and see what reaction you get. I'd love to see your face if your husband gives you the same list of complaints next time you spend a day with your kids.

squoosh · 10/06/2017 15:31

Some people just aren't very good at interpreting tone.

Kidneybean212 · 10/06/2017 15:33

Trumpton get its!
Kindle - we do indeed need a klaxon.

Coddi - he knows he has to LTB.

Kidneybean212 · 10/06/2017 15:33

Squoosh - I feel sorry for them tbh.

youarenotkiddingme · 10/06/2017 15:37

Some people can't read between the lines can they?

It's quite obvious the point that was being made!

I think it's great that the kids have obviously had a great morning and very jealous of your lie in!

feathermucker · 10/06/2017 15:40

Coddiwomple You realllllly need to see the tongue-in-cheek aspect of this.

OP - hope you enjoyed your lie-in Smile

furryelephant · 10/06/2017 15:46

Does he want to take mine along too next time Grin

theredjellybean · 10/06/2017 15:46

sounds perfect day out...

i thought you meant by the title you didn't give a sh&t and didn't want him to tell..

i used to not really care what my exdh did with dds ...when i was having a lie in....and wasn't that fussed about hearing about it ...but mainly cus my exdh acted like it was an amazing achievement and looked at my like an expectant puppy waiting for his reward for good behavior.

I used to shrug and go ' yeh good' ...

but if he was ragaling you with antics to make you laugh at the morning events ror thought you were genuinely interested then great and how lovely you have such a good relationship dynamic..he wasn't worried he was going ' to get told off'

Coddiwomple · 10/06/2017 15:49

It is very obvious, and calling something light-hearted doesn't make you any less petty. We do have the message, thank you very much. You are a perfect mother, and your DH can't do anything right, it's so funny how much the man can get it wrong haha.

squoosh · 10/06/2017 15:51

What a peculiar person you are.
